Vacation day 11: Brite and fare
Apr. 27th, 2006 09:35 pmWhere did the day go? Did morning chores, had breakfast (homemade scones with cranberries in them,) finished plying up most of the Polwarth yarn, dealt with e-mail, and it was lunch time. After lunch I did some ripping of vinyl LPs to MP3 files, then mate went off back to Chicago (he only returned yesterday, sigh) while I dismantled my old Amiga 3000T to remove the VGA card from the PC bridge side of the bus. I don't use Windows on there any more, so I could go back to the CGA emulation mode for controlling the bridge card, freeing up the monitor switch I had used there for years.
Put the monitor switch in place to swap my desktop monitor between my primary Linux system and my old one, which still has a Windows partition. When both are running Linux, this is unnecessary, since the one without a monitor can use X to display on the other's screen. But in order to run Windows once in a while for specific reasons, I need a monitor I can switch to that box easily. It's working.
Cleaned barns, more e-mail, brought the horses in and bedded down the sheep, made dinner, and now it's after 9 pm. I think I'll wash the yarn, spread it out to dry, and go to bed.
