Actually went in to work, but only to have breakfast with folks in honor of Carolyn's birthday, and to pick up my check. Of course I couldn't go in without dealing with a couple of small things, but my desk is buried and I didn't dig in it to see what was there. Mostly it was a brief social call.

Pretty much finished with spinning the Polwarth wool. Most of the skeins have been washed and are drying, there will be one more after I ply it. The color ran a bit in the rinse water, which was no surprise as it's quite an intense blue and green roving.

Learned that the shearer is coming tomorrow for the sheep. Good for them, as they're getting quite warm under all that fleece, but it means work for us.

Converted three older recordings of theatre organ music to MP3 by playing them into Audacity. It does an excellent job once you figure out the best levels to use, and has good filters to remove pops and clicks and excess noise without damaging the sound quality. I'm very pleased with the result.

Did not get as far as fursuiting in the pasture, though, because it clouded up and I wanted sunlight for photos. Ah well. I'll do it before the weather gets really hot, maybe still this weekend.

Your vacation day 12 is the first of 12 consecutive workdays for me, the first five of which will be particularly long (yesterday was ~11 hours, today and tomorrow probably somewhat shorter, Monday and Tuesday will both be unusually long; I'll be working through Tuesday, May 10th, then have Wednesday and Thursday off, then work 3 days, then have 4 days off...)

Augh! As I think I've said before, I couldn't possibly do that. Even though I'm an early riser and busy with stuff kind of guy, I hate being bound to the clock and having to be somewhere on a schedule. That even applies to work, no matter whether it's work I enjoy or not. I need my weekends and holidays. My mate would attest that I get very cranky when he schedules a weekend full of social appointments so that I'm still stuck "on the clock" then and have no time to do my own things with.

I'm actually very laxed on the clock most days, yesterday being an exception (as will be Monday). Driving my route, I can be several hours "late" and its no problem. Actually being early at some of my stores is worse than being late, because being early means I didn't allow enough time between the RSR servicing the store and my getting there (so not enough time for product to sell, so there's little I could do, which means leaving the store early and not having me when they need me most).

Friday and Monday are special projects, working in the distribution center on a regular timeclock before starting my route. It definitely shows I'm not used to being on one, though, and not used to morning commutes, as I was about 5 minutes late yesterday with my commute at around 75 minutes.

I don't have a mate, just a looming student loan bill, and really, this is still only part time (though next week will probably put me in overtime territory for the first time since Frito-Lay hired me permanently about a year ago) with an average of maybe 20 hours/week. Last month was so slow, my paychecks were a paltry $100-$150 for several weeks (plus a $100 or so check I get each month for mileage compensation)
