Well, it's animist's fault,* because I think I met you through his journal. I'm not sure if you friended me first or I friended you first, but you're on my f-list because your posts are always interesting (sometimes funny, sometimes thought-provoking), and there's the interests we share like music and critters and such. Not to mention the fact that there's an interesting, good person behind the journal.

Your calm and thoughtful manner in Rex's journal brought me here. You have that sort of anti-dramatic feeling to you, and you feel...I don't know...More my age, I guess, than most people I know on the net. Which is no insult to them, of course, I just sometimes feel like an alien when I'm surfing around.

You seem to have that kind of laid back, methodical way of looking at life that I generally try to achieve. No major rush to get here or there, plenty of time to think about something if you need to. That sort of thing. :)

Not sure if I'm making sense here. Mainly, it's just the "feeling" I've gotten from interacting with you in the LJ space.

Your computer posts just seemed oh so familiar. My experience also goes back to the S-100 era, and I'm now in the process of attempting to abandon Windows in favor of Linux.

Howdy and welcome! Now that's kind of amusing, since my connection to ursulav is art and wildlife based and I don't recall ever discussing much computer geekery there, but glad to meet you just the same. :)

My advice on abandoning Windows is "just do it." You won't regret it, and with that much experience, you won't have much trouble. If you have one or two really seriously Windows-dependent applications that you can't live without (I deal with this at work, alas) you can usually get them to run under WINE or, if they are really Windows-dependent, by using some form of VMWare.

I have pondered long and hard (no, not that) about what to put here. With some of my friends there has been one particular thing to point at, one thing that truly tied us together or is just a funny memory.

But here, there have been so many things that it has become hard to choose, and I will instead say that I won't reply - other than by saying that true friendship can not be measured in words.
