Less reading, actually
May. 28th, 2006 10:24 pmI know I meant to read this weekend. But I've been getting some weaving done, and some writing. Preparing a podcast, cause I'm overdue by weeks and weeks, and of course barn chores. It was hot though, so we even had the air conditioning on for the first time this year. May have broken a record for this date.
Mate has been baking all day, cookies, bread, coffee cakes. Tomorrow morning we're driving down to a friend's house in Elgin early to watch a marathon that goes by his front yard every year on Memorial Day. Kinda silly, really, but just because marathons don't make sense to me doesn't mean I don't enjoy the brunch and the cameraderie. I think that's how you spell it.
Anyway, time for bed. Later. ;)

Date: 2006-05-29 07:52 am (UTC)Been having fun on this 90 degree day painting the front wheels of the tractor and greasing badly needed front wheel bearings (Bear and I both think these have NEVER been greased or adjusted since when it was new in 1958 from the looks of things) so it is a good thing to do. Swimming pool is filling and the water is actually warm already (Unlike Alaska water which comes up from the well at, like 33 degrees F).
It IS a record hot day here btw.
Fans and air conditioning are wonderful things. Thank you Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse.
Damn it, 'Tivo. You just had to tell me about Gary's baking wonderfullments, or however that is spelled. Giggle.
Now I am curious about HIS front yard in Elgin. Must be his family's home?
Think not about the stupid wars. Think more of the men and women who have gone off to war and died. That is the only way I can cope with Memorial Day, the sacrifices of good men and women and the politics be damned. As a combat veteran of Viet Nam I especially feel this need to honor those who have served not only this but every Country in times of war. Such a waste.
Here is my aphorism for today btw.
GOLF is a game, obviously designed by the evil one. In which a man hits a ball much too small with implements poorly designed for the purpose, into a hole much too small and too far away. --- Winston Churchill

Date: 2006-05-29 01:43 pm (UTC)you can accomplish. The "your goals should exceed your
grasp" sort of thing.
Sounds like you had some tasty fun though.

Date: 2006-05-29 07:50 pm (UTC)I don't like to-do lists, though. My mate has kept one for years, and sometimes his has extended to more than 40 pages. I don't want to know I'm that far behind. I peeked in it once a long time ago and found a listing reminding him to "spend quality time" with me. It was right under the one that told him to do the same... with the dog. And at the time I saw it, that particular dog had been gone to doggie heaven for two or three years. ;p
