Weaving away busily. Gotta finish these scarves I've been dawdling over for months. They meet the requirements of this year's guild challenge and that's due on Wednesday. I've missed two of the last three challenges completely, and this year entirely by accident I have a project going that qualifies.

For those who know weaving, the challenge is simple: Do something new with twill structure. My scarves are raw silk in four colors: pink, burgundy, grape, and gray. The threading is plain old four shaft rosepath, and one scarf is woven as drawn in for a contrast. The other two use unusual treadlings that I created by diddling around in Fiberworks until I liked the resulting draft.

Back to the loom now. Rattle, swoosh, clack...

Ah, but there is no loose end while the cloth is on the loom. Both ends of the warp are attached to rollers so the web is stretched under tension while working. Most felines seem to be chased away by the rhythmic slap of the beater, but I imagine you might like the mechanics of the thing and get your paws caught in it somewhere. Hmm.
