I could say I'm still up waiting to see if the world ends at midnight, but after all, it has already been midnight over half the globe and we're still here. There goes another millennialist apocalyptic theory. Tsk.

Of course, since things didn't end on June 6, 1006 AD, there's no reason to expect it would happen now either.

Two scarves came off the loom tonight. Got all the loose ends finished on one, the other will get done tomorrow. Theme of this particular project was "Thy Twill be Done" (I didn't make that up) so I've decided that these three silk scarves are a "medley" of tunes built on a common theme (the traditional rosepath threading.) The first will be titled "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes," the second will be "I Only Have Eyes for You," and the third (still on the loom) is "I Never Promised You a Rosepath." [exit stage left, dodging cabbages and tomatoes]

Obviously, I haven't seen the scarves, but if I like them as much as the songs you're doing fine!

(All three are favorites of mine. :)

As to the date: The doomsayers are always predicting the end.

One day they will be right. But not today.

I think or say that daily. And yes, one day I will be wrong. But, unlike them, I'll only be wrong once.

Part of the fun of exhibiting this kind of work is making up the names. I'll post a photo eventually, once they are fulled and pressed, and you'll see the whyfors.

As for being wrong once, I suppose once is enough, but you have a good point. I was in high school on 6-6-66 (Yes, one too many digits anyway) and there was a lot of banner waving and doomsaying then. This time has been fairly unnoticed, at least around here.

Dear Rider.

Tonight as I sleep with my plush Thunder I think of you and think of you and think of you, my dear friend. I hold you close and tight and dream of you and the love I feel for you and hold you close and dream the best for you and yours. I hold you with love, and it is not the fake kind but the real sort that tells me, at least, how much I do care for you and how much I feel toward you my great Rider.

Thank you for you.

Imperator

*pushes Thunder out of the bed and takes his place, snuggling down as if he had a right and belonged there* Hurrr-rr.

Perhaps. But if we aren't able to see that, how do we know? ;p

If a tree falls in the woods and noone is around, does it make a sound ;)

There's a 6/6/'06 every hundred years, actually.
But the real 6/6/6 would have been 2000 years ago - no need to abbreviate the year, even. The devil is real lazy if he's procrastinated for that long. I know how time can slip away if you're busy with other things, but 2000 years; come on! :-)

Ah well, maybe Lucifer overslept or something.

(Insert lots of mumbo-jumbo about Greek and Hebrew numerology here and how 6 was represented by the now obsolete letter digamma that looked like various Hebrew letters as well and might be some kind of secret symbol.)

It's all bosh, I think.

Obviously it didn't. But superstitious folks who ascribe potent danger to three sixes in a row were worried about it.

Time-zones, the nemesis of any good eschatology! ;)

I hope we'll get to see pics of the scarfies.

If I can get them to photograph reasonably, I'll post. It should work.

Evil?

Oh yes, they have hidden fangs and suck the blood of anyone who wears them. ;p

My kids were worried, from the media hype, a bit, about
6/6/6. I said, with a grave and serious voice;

"Do you know what happened on June 6th 1906?"

"What!?"

*shrugs* Nothing.

*kids facepaw*

It rained. I think.

And 666 X 3 = 1998!

Wait, our calander is off by many years
because of Pope Sixtus the Sixth when he
reorganized things in 666 AD. That means
the Anti-Christ is...

LINDY LOHAN!
