I did get the paws, both hands and feet, done last night. Janet, who will be our storyteller, was delighted this morning when I showed her the tail I made for her. She has a flowery housedress and a straw hat with flowers ready to wear, matching the drawings of the wolf in disguise reading stories to the children in the book. It occurs to me that I should make her ears to pin onto the hat, maybe I can get that done tomorrow morning. The only other crucial thing is a couple of small seams at the neckline, and since I don't have to go in until afternoon tomorrow, I'll get it done in the morning.

Not as heavy a day as yesterday, though there was a fair amount of cataloging again. I did not get any upgrades installed. Weather was cloudy but not rainy, and I did sit outside for 30 minutes at my lunch break so I could work on my spinning.

Need to write checks for some small bills, but none are urgent, and I think I'm going to go to bed early. Not enough sleep the last couple of nights.

We are at the very end of our hay supply, so I sure hope we'll be getting a delivery soon. Yes, even though that means we get to unload and stack hay bales again. We think it's time to get rid of the sheep, but Gary doesn't want them to end up as dog food so likely they will be here for a long time.

Hehe I hope the effect is good :) Although a wolf wearing a flowery dress reminds me of red riding hood :D

As to the Sheepies, I guess as long as you don't get any more and just let them live out their lives it should keep Gary happy :)

It's the cost of hay and shearing that has Gary worried. There won't be any new lambs now that Shaun is gone.

The wolf in disguise theme is an intentional element in the story, yes, and is borrowed from the more common tales where the wolf is the bad guy. It works, though.

Oh, so the reader's (a) not you and (b) a lady! *not observant* Have you needed to adjust the suit at all to fit her?

I suppose my commentary has been confusing to anyone not familiar with the book. We have split the role. Janet will read the story, I will "act out" part of it. I'll be in full suit but will be chased away at the appropriate point. At the end, when you find out that the storyteller actually is the wolf, she will get up from her rocking chair and let the kids see that she has a wolf tail under her long skirt, which is hinted at in the ending of the story. By then I will have come back in and will be sitting or standing at the back of the room.

Past experience suggests that some kids will want to hug or pet the wolf and have their pictures taken with him. Others will just stare from a distance. ;p

Oh, I see! Sounds neat. Are you doing a trial run-through with borrowed kids?

I'd be in the furst category, but in an approach/retreat conflict knowing it was a human in there. ;)

No trial run. It's a free event, so no one can complain if it turns out amateurish. But I expect we've kept it simple enough to succeed.

You'd know it was a human but you would know it was I, and I'm harmless. Also insulated by a layer of shaggy fur, so no skin contact is possible. Hug safely.

It sounds great and I'm sure it will! They're lucky you had the woof suit all prettied and ready.

(I know that now and could compensate, but as a small kid I had no exception handler.)
