They do take a lot of interest in that, probably wondering WHY we do it.

My two boys have dutch doors that lead from their stalls to the dry lot outside where they spend most days, and when either of us is mucking out they love to poke their heads in and watch. Archie will actually grab at the fork handle if it gets within reach, as if trying to stop you or help you. Asher just gives you this sad eyed look until you rub his face some, and then he's happy.

Good Asher!

He's prolly thinking,

"Why would they do that? They should
stop! Poor dumb humans."

It was a job, but later I moved up to the horse
tack where I got to *GASP* polish leather before
it was made into a bridle.

*puts the bit with its ring on a hook and rubrubrubrubs.
puts it on the table. Does that six or seven times. Takes
the parts (I never learned the parts, the bit that goes
from ear to jaw) to the guy that assembles the bridles
and makes the name tags (he had plates with a bunch of
stampers and a hammer). His name was "Red" he used to
go on and on as we worked about Wheeekeee. I found out that
he meant Whiskey. Red didn't drink, anymore then, but
told a story about how he dug a "grave" "four by six" for
his last bottle, unopened, when his wife was going to
leave him. I told him I'd dig it up, it must be nice
and good by now. He snickered and winked the way /really/
old men do. "Cain't tey ya were it is boy, was drunk
when I bar-eed eet!" (yes he did talk like that). And
then he cackled. I went back to rubrubrub. Eventually I
got to work on the computer with the hippy guy, then the
hippy guy left and I reorganized all the files so they
worked. Then I went back north.

Still, I think its funny the way the horse would eye me
when I was shoveling his shit. It was, I swear, amusing
to him.

Horses are like dolphins...you look at them and think...

Almost

Of course if they could talk they'd go on and on with
gossip. Horses in a stall got nuthin' but time.

Oh thank you, whoever you really are, pioneer11.

I am smiling as I read it again. The old hippy guy is ME!

Uh, no, wait a moment, I am a stallion horse. No wait.

I look at mine and, after the feelings and thoughts about the way their bodies work, the muscles rippling and how they attach and the way the legs and necks and the long flowing manes and tails and it... well I am an artist after all and got to check this stuff out.

I promise to endure my only stallion now, Thunder, and not think any more about getting him gelded. I do not think it would improve anything and would, in the long run, take a lot of fun out of our friendship.

Hey, horse shit rambling. We need a ramble-your-ass-off rambling LJ. Oh wait, never mind.

Steed smiling and funning with ya.

Whinnys!
Im very happy to hear ya not ruining your stallion! Nuzzles and huggs! Its a very rare thing to have a human think of a horse before just the thought that everyone does it, and its *supposedly* easier. That does take a lot of *ahem* Balls to do :p

Dear Rider,

I always liked For Better of For Worse. Family growing up with many very real situations, decisions, happenstances. Like their son being gay. The daughter is perfect to be a horse-loving teen-to-young-woman. I would hope she might learn and move on but a few stick and horses become their life and their love. Have known many very personally and up-close *ahem* but. In my case, older women who kept the horselove alive and yes, the sexual side is always one of the forefronts. Alouis Pojadsky who directed the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austrialia, for many years WWII into like the sixties, made a big point of how sexy they are. (Lippizaner stallions of Vienna).

Horses are smart, inquisitive, personal, bright and see much we do not, have one of the best memories in the animal kingdom, friendly and about as honest as it gets (dogs and cats lie) and so I love them so much a part of myself it still amazes me.

I always wanted to be a better person and partly why yes, I want to be a horse, a stallion. Now, the young ones like Thunder are something else. But I have known five, particular stallions who were in their thirties and yes, older but very wiser and knew every trick in the book and all I needed to do was be myself with them and they were instant friends.

I never feel even the slightest fear from them. That old and famous Arab was amazingly brave and powerful and smart-as-the-proverbial whip and would rear to strike you down if need be but always with me, the perfect gentleman polite and careful. Does he, somehow know, how sexually attracted I am to him? I bet there is something to that.

I am not regressing, just contemplative and irregularly obtuse. GRIN!

Steed this time
