I had a horse in texas that would do that. Also if he got bored during an ice storm when I was told to keep them stalled up he would unlock his stall then let everyone else out. I had to put a padlock on his latch
If they haven't been abused, most of them are smart and friendly. You just want to be very sure you know what you're doing if you get between one and a mare in season. Those particular instincts seem to override in most cases.
The idea that two stallions will kill each other is bosh, though, at least in most cases.
Hahahahaha... You may think so, but you should see what a stallion looks like after he's been running loose with half a dozen mares for a couple of months. Usually they look like they are desperate to get away. The mares definitely run the show, and they aren't gentle about it. The poor guy's mane is often ripped out at the roots, and his tail may be pretty wispy too. He's got bite and kick marks all over him. Tired, worn out, short of rest and food, ribs showing... Having seen it a couple of times, I can tell you it doesn't appeal to me. :)
Truth be told, in RP I found much the same thing. The mares ran the show and ran me into the ground.
*rubs your scabs, gives you good hoss analgesics and promises not to try and ride you, though he would, eventually, like you to show him that secret horse place with all the Oreos and Skittles.*

Date: 2006-08-15 02:49 pm (UTC)I remember this stallion that was in his own seperate fenced in
area. It was large, but still fenced in.
I'd ride my bike along and he'd run along after me, making hoss
noises. I stopped and looked at him.
He stopped and looked at me.
I rode my bike the other way and he chased me the other way. Pretty
damn good too, seeing as I was on a bike.
I peered.
He blinked.
I went over and petted him and he made hoss noises.
"Your like a big dog aren't you?"
He let loose with the loudest fart I'd ever heard.

Date: 2006-08-15 06:48 pm (UTC)The scenario you describe would certainly appeal to some power-play and/or S&M types, don't you think?
