Gray morning, foggy night
Aug. 19th, 2006 11:31 pmIt was still a bit drippy this morning when we fed all the critters. A lot of ground mist in open areas. Humidity was high much of the day, and finally dropped off a bit in late afternoon.
Went into Woodstock and had dinner at Angelo's on the square (just an ordinary Greek-American place, but they are consistent and not noisy or smoke-filled.) Then toured the automobile show that was taking up the square today, but there were few real antiques. It was all Mustangs and Corvettes with fancy paint jobs. Bah.
After that a performance at the Unitarian Church by Sparky and Rhonda Rucker in which Sparky related with great drama and cleverness the highlights of the US Civil War, punctuated by period songs. Rhonda joined him with the most superb live blues harp I've ever heard, as well as with lovely harmonies and some fine piano a couple of times.
It has cooled off and the sky is clear enough to see stars in. But ground fog is accumulating as the temperature drops now. Sometimes here we get fog so thick you can't see your feet, but it is all contained between ground level and waist level. Very strange, like walking or driving through whipped cream. Hard to say what it might be like come dawn.

And whats wrong with crowded, smoke filled eateries?

Date: 2006-08-20 07:57 pm (UTC)I much prefer relative quiet while eating, so you can hold a conversation. And smoke I have zero tolerance for.
Makes A Note
Date: 2006-08-20 08:41 pm (UTC)fight with, and waitresses (not waitors) that can take them while
calling the police and still asking what incredibly high fat
food you want, and oh, please put the gun under the table.
Sorry, too much Denis Leary.
XD.
Really, to be honest, most places around here are now smoke
free. And the places up by the university I like are going
to be quiet when I go to them, say, six forty five in the
morning on a Tuesday.
Its all good.
*gets you a Gyro*
