What an incredibly long day it was. Nothing special about it, but just too long. Gray and gloomy too, but no actual rain until just time to go home. Then it started of course.

Mate is in Chicago for a wedding party, I'll get to see him briefly tomorrow then he's off to Waukegan for another session. It's all right, I have plenty to do with the show starting next week, but I'm really not used to being alone here that much and especially not on weekends. Oh, and the Northwest Herald filmed and recorded him during that Civil War thing I complained about. If you're interested and don't mind waiting for Flash stuff to download, he's in the "Civilians" portion of their video here.

I should be spinning. I'm partly through a skein of linen, and it looks promising enough. But I got caught up in finishing Volle and I'm quite near the end. As far as I can see, it has to be quite a cliff-hanger ending. I'm glad the sequels are already available and I have them at hand.

That reminded me of a bit in Married with Children,

"Al where's my house"
"It's a chicken restaurant in Waukegan.....I bet you thought I didn't know did you?"

:D

*blank look* That must be television stuff. I can always tell because it doesn't make any sense. ;p

So that's your mate :) I watched the video with Gary in it. I liked the music he played.

The two tunes that you heard (rather chopped up) are both traditional fiddle tunes that would have been familiar to many people at that time. I think the first one is called "The Red Haired Boy" and the second is "South Wind." Gary and our friend Rob perform together doing 19th Century popular music and children's stuff, under the name Bear Creek. No CD yet, but I hope they will be doing one.
