Schools closed early for some reason and all the kids came to the library. Not to study, but just to raise heck and be a general nuisance as far as I can ell.

Anyway, Q&A lifted from [livejournal.com profile] marzolan, [livejournal.com profile] farhoug, and [livejournal.com profile] danjidraconid:

1. In three words, explain what ended your last relationship?
"He moved out." (That was 26+ years ago. Assuming you don't count the current one which is 24 years and counting.)

2. When was the last time you shaved your legs?
Why would I do that?

3. What were you doing this morning at 8am?
Collecting our food coop order from a friend's pole barn where the truck just stopped to leave it off.

4. What were you doing 15 minutes ago?
Putting away supper dishes and leftovers.

5. Are you good at math?
Reasonably so, yes. Very good at geometry and trig. OK at the rest of it.

6. Your prom night?
Vaguely disquieting. Mostly felt weird because I hadn't realized I was gay yet.

7. Do you have any famous ancestors?
If you believe no one ever lied about who the father was, yes. Bad King John of Magna Carta fame, several other Plantagenet kings of England, and all their ancestors, including William the Conqueror, Malcolm III of Scotland, St. Margaret, St. Edward the Confessor, Charlemagne, and according to the claim of the Anglo-Saxon royal line, the god Wotan. Now if you believe all that, I wanna sell you a duck, but it is in my pedigree. Given that John was about 25 generations back, the odds that I actually have even a single chromosome that came all the way down from him are vanishingly small.

8. Have you ever taken out a loan to pay for school?
Sure. All paid back eventually.

9. Do you know the words to the song on your myspace profile?
Eeeww. No myspace for me.

10. Last thing received in the mail?
Advertising card from the Post Offal itself.

11. How many different beverages have you drank today?
Coffee, water, juice, iced tea (not sweet). Four.

12. Do you ever leave messages on people's answering machines?
When necessary, sure.

13. Who did you lose your CONCERT virginity to?
My older brother's high school band?

14. Do you draw your name in the sand when you go to the beach?
No, I'm probably too busy watching people.

15. What's the most painful dental procedure you've had?
Heh. I'm old enough to remember having fillings drilled out with the old slow speed, belt-powered drills and no anesthetics. In retrospect, probably the most unpleasant thing I've ever submitted to in my life, and repeatedly at that. The "good old days" weren't always that good.

16. What is out your back door?
Two barns, three acres of pasture, and my horses, sheep, rabbits, and ducks.

17. Any plans for Friday?
Work. Oh, you meant the evening? Edit a guild newsletter.

18. Do you like the ocean?
Most of the time, yes.

19. Have you ever received one of those big tins of 3 different kinds of popcorn?
Nope. My dislike of popcorn is well-known.

20. Have you ever been to a planetarium?
Many times.

21. Why there is no question 21?
Isn't that a question?

22. Something you are excited about?
Almost bedtime. Yay.

23. What is your favorite flavor of JELLO?
Strawberry banana, preferably with cut up fresh strawberries floating in it.

24. Are any of your great-grandparents still alive?
No. All were dead before I was born. My paternal grandmother was born in 1872, her mother in 1846. My maternal grandmother in 1897, and her mother in 1871. That's rather a long time ago. People in my family have tended to marry and have children later in life than average.

25. Describe your keychain:
Only two keys, the car key itself and the key to the locking fuel tank cap. The little remote clicker that unlocks and locks the car doors. A plastic tag with the car dealership's name and number on it, and a cut aluminum horse trinket that is anodized with a blue coating.

26. Where do you keep your change?
Jeans pocket and on top of my dresser.

27. When was the last time you spoke in front of a large group of people?
How large a group? At a librarians' meeting back in July probably.

28. What kind of winter coat do you have?
Fuzzy, kinda silly looking. But that's what happens to horses in winter.

29. What was the weather like on your graduation?
HIgh school? Thunderstorms. University? About a hundred degrees F. and dry/sunny. Graduate School? I skipped graduation and got my diploma in the mail.

30. Do you sleep with the door to your room open or closed?
Open most of the time, closed if the cats are being pests and have been tossed out.

My dislike of popcorn is well-known.

Well, now it is. I had no idea. Better cancel my order for your Christmas gift then.

24. Are any of your great-grandparents still alive?

Great-grandparents? That's a looooong time ago. My dad's grandfather died in 1890 (farming accident, otherwise he'd likely have made it into the 1960s).

I may have to do this quiz, too, perhaps.

Hee. Gary will eat the popcorn. The dogs love it too. To me it has always had the character of salted styrofoam. I never could figure out what people see in it.

You indirectly hit on it -- the salt. And butter. Popcorn is a salt-and-butter delivery device.

Explains a lot of things about me, huh? (Don't answer that.)

I love that picture.

The mood icons came from http://www.tetrap.com/lj/

I think you may have to be a paid account or maybe a plus account in order to set a personalized mood icon vector. I'd like a set of horsey ones, but haven't seen any and I'm too lazy to draw all of them myself. Take a look at [livejournal.com profile] corelog's journal for some classy wolf moods.

Hmm. Or maybe not. Rex used to have some classy wolf cartoon mood icons, but he seems to have quit using them.

I try juggling when that happens.

*juggles whatever the kids can hand him...sometimes fails
and gets an...OOOOOHHH!!! But then juggles better*

Just my tactic.

Today, in the library it was so quiet, like back in the
day.

I had to leave, I felt old.

XD

Heh, we haven't had a quiet day all week. Today's door counter reading was 906. True, that counts each person twice, going in and going out, but still it's a huge count for us. We've only ever broken a thousand a handful of times. More typical is 600-700.
