Ugh

I've caught a cold, probably from a colleague who has had it all week. No snow here yet, in spite of the predictions. It quit raining and the sun came out just before sunset, and the wind has picked up as the temperature dropped, but so far not as bad as they said. We might actually avoid the killing frost that was forecast.

Wednesday is over, thank goodness. I need to take something and go to bed.

[Edit 5:40 am Thursday: Recorded low on the thermometers here was 29.7 F. With the wind that was blowing at sunset, that may not have been a killing frost, but if the winds died down, it surely was. The reading now, not yet light out, is 30F on one and 32F on another thermometer.]

It's already down to 26F here in Nebraska and it's not even midnight yet. I've never been in weather this cold before, though it's really not too bad. I could stand outside wearing a short-sleeved polo shirt and not feel too uncomfortable.

Brief exposure is tolerable, yes. But I'd advise you to get some warm clothing if you don't have it yet. Wind chill can be particularly nasty out there on the plains.

Yes its a chilly 85F today down here.

I remember harvesting my little herb garden in Toronto for drying and watching that temperature carefully.
