So I went and did what I was committed to do today, and I should be committed for it. I feel like I was run over by a steamroller.

Drove in to Woodstock to keep a promise to demonstrate handspinning outdoors on the Square this morning. There were only three of us, so it was a good thing. I did get a bunch of Wensleydale spun up. Hoping I have enough to make socks of it when I'm done.

Then Gary came in for lunch, because he wanted to see the gallery show. We went to lunch and then he took photos to show his mom before going back home. I remained in the gallery because I was supposed to be the "sitter" for the afternoon. Two weavers had showed up as well, so I could have left any time I guess, but I stuck it out. Spun gray Romney into worsted for rug or saddle blanket warp, using the antique replica Gary and I just restored. That's up for silent auction in the gallery and has been bid up to $150 so far. Not too bad, actually, we'll take that. (It goes to the guild as a donation to support educational work.)

Left at gallery closing (5 pm) and came home. I'm ready for bed now. Completely trashed. But if I go to bed, I'll be up at 1 am and wide awake, so nothing doing. I was up at 4 this morning already, unable to breathe lying down. Good about that was I finished Pendant of Fortune, which is even better than Volle was. I hope [livejournal.com profile] kyellgold is going to give us more soon. Volle is nice enough and a smart fox, but it's the wolves I really love. Streak is a total sweetheart, and Tish is his usual far-sighted self. Volle acquires a new wolf in his entourage too, as a result of the plot action which is more murder mystery than spy suspense like the first novel. If you liked Volle you should definitely read Pendant of Fortune.

I will be up and it could be fun visiting and flying my great and true Rider. The more I get to learn about and know you the better we can be as good friends I both think and feel.

To bed now (10:30) perchance to dream of strong wings beating to windward and out to sea, bearing me aloft to the clouds and beyond. First star to the right, and straight on til morning, or so it goes. Good night, noble one.

Oh, definitely wolves. Bears, foxes, skunks, weasels, otters, deer, rabbits, hares, mice, rats, and hedgehogs as well. With respect to species, the one thing that bothered me was a vagueness about equines. The characters use coaches and buggies, which are apparently drawn by horses. It seemed odd that in a world with a fully developed civilization of bipedal mammalian species, somehow the only dumb beasts to be encountered would be the horses.

There's a lot of room for future development, too. He has given us glimpses of two different nations and a bit of their history, religion, government, and culture. The Panbestian Church, which has both "Orthodox" and "Reformed" branches, offers a lot of possibilities for more exploration, as do additional geography and national borders yet unmentioned.
