Date: 2006-10-21 03:01 pm (UTC)I wish.
As one of those "I don't need to do work, it's too easy" types, I used to be rather irresponsible and a terrible procrastinator (uncharacteristic of us horsey types, I know). I'm better now- I try (no choice really what with my degree)...and then while I'm chugging along nicely something always happens (last semester it was my mother threatening to disown me and later on my having a breakdown, this semster it was bi-polar sending me manic) and despite the fact that excuses are kinda pathetic, I inevitably fall behind.
But I'm trying! Last time I did my exam prep last-minute, I almost dropped a load in my pants, and I never want to have that feeling ever again.

Date: 2006-10-21 01:10 pm (UTC)Heh, now that I live out of state, I have to send a Christmas gift package. Dad is easy... couple bottles of Green Goddess salad dressing. My nephew, age five, is also easy... a Tonka or truck or tractor. But mom... gods, anything, really but I want it to be special.
My sister and brother-in-law... well any kind of joke or fun thing works.
I hate picking good presents.
Me? A new toaster.

Date: 2006-10-21 03:34 pm (UTC)The dates for MFF are Friday, Nov. 17 - Sunday, Nov. 19. I have the room at the Hyatt (the main hotel) for Friday night and Saturday night. I plan to arrive around 10 am on Friday and stay through until Sunday afternoon some time, which covers all the main events of the con. I'll be scheduled to be on two panels, I guess, unless something changes, and of course I plan to do the fursuit meet & greet and the parade. Otherwise I'm flexible.
For location information, maps, and all that, check the MFF website. It's just off the I-90 tollway, on the north edge of Woodfield Mall. The exit ramps are more than a little confusing, though, so study a map beforehand.
Now as for gifts, well, it depends partly on what your mom likes. If she wears jewelry, that's always good, but if she doesn't, then it's probably not the best idea. I tend to favor things to wear that look nice and are warm, and with Alaska's climate that might be a good choice too. A woven or knit shawl or sweater? Scarves, mittens, hats? Lots of nice stuff available along those lines, even hand made if you shop the gift bazaars and boutiques that show up this time of year. Warm moccasins with sheepskin linings might be nice if you know the size.
