Once again, the crazy race to complete a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.

Chapter 1 of 'Tivo's project, Taking Flight.

In other news, spent most of the afternoon having my eyesight checked. Good news is that it hasn't changed much in two years, though there's enough of a shift to make new glasses a good idea. I also got fitted for some contact lenses to wear with my fursuit. Supposedly they will be ready in a week, in plenty of time for MFF.

50,000 words in 30 days, that is quite a job to do.

It seems that way at first glance, but that breaks down to only 1667 words each day, or about three pages. Several thousand people succeed at it each year. I quit at 30,000 last year because I got distracted by MFF. This time I hope to build up enough lead so taking a few days off won't hurt.

I read this with my exceptionally bleary vision last night and then forgot to comment, but I liked the quad! :D And the hints of a post-Big-Bad-Something setting. And the homely details in between all that.

I had every intention this year of starting out with a firm outline and plan, but when I started writing I said to myself "No one but me wants to read this" and I trashed the whole thing. Fear not, however, the nature of the Burning Times will be revealed, and Jake is in for quite a nice adventure.

I like Daisy too. I hope my canine friends won't feel insulted. She's very intelligent, but her speech abilities are limited. She also has more natural instinct than the twofers, who are fairly human in that respect.

I think she emerged from my own mild objection to the reverse situation in [livejournal.com profile] kyellgold's novels. He has fox, wolf, bear and other furry bipeds in an elaborate civilization, but his horses are the same old plodding beasts of burden we already know, pulling carts and buggies and unable to speak. I love his writing otherwise, and that little bit bugs me. ;p

Very good. I liked your first chapter a lot. Great detail. I'm really curious about what happened in the past, the "burning years" that somehow created the bipeds. I think you're off to a very good start. *hugs*

Glad to have you along as a reader. The Burning Years will be revealed, of course, but they aren't the main plot line. *hugs back*
