Still puzzled about the weather thing. Obviously some places were indeed hard hit. At my house, we have perhaps 4 inches of snow. It's still falling, but not that fast. However, the library system offices in Rockford were closed, deliveries canceled, and the school district in Harvard where I work has closed for the day. My boss just called to say we will not open the library either. What seems oddest to us is the fact that no snowplow has passed yet. We are on a county road, usually they are going by repeatedly by this hour in the morning. I wonder if they'll kill our mailbox when they finally get here. (They knocked it down three times last year.)

The weird thing though is this: In all the years I've worked in Illinois, the only days missed because work closed for snow were in the late December blizzard of 1978, the one that swept Jane Byrne into office because Chicago handled snow removal so badly. We've had storms with nine inches of snow but I never got a snow day from anyone, not even Columbia College (a commuter school that really should have closed down sometimes) and certainly not from Harvard. Now we get an ordinary winter snow storm and everything is closing. What am I missing here?

The dude in charge wanted a holiday?

A birthday ay? What does one buy horses for their Birthday? I usually give "Oaty treats" or those fancy new horse shoes from "Hoofers" the Brushed titanium with chrome edging.

Thanks for doing this one. I'm new enought to the whole blogging thing that this is the first meme that someone else has picked up after I've done it. Hope your Thanksgiving went well.

It was good even just for getting the time off work. Likewise the snowstorm last week, though spending two days shoveling out didn't exactly let us make any advances on other tasks.

I trust we'll see you at the Sagittarius Party?
