Another month down

Newsletter completed.

Now I just have to get ready to go to the fairgrounds in the morning and judge the knitting and crochet, now with spinning as an added attraction. I was there this afternoon and Mary, the superintendent, was excited about the amount of entries. It looked like a good number to me, but not a huge increase over last year. The difference is that this year the categories are more finely divided. So instead of having four ribbons to give in a group of 15 items, hopefully I will more often have four ribbons to give in a group of five or fewer items. That makes it much easier, and also means more prizes get awarded.

They keep telling us we're in for heavy thunderstorms, but nada. We need some rain.

You're right, I try to be very kind. I never criticize the horrible colors people choose, for instance. But I do gnaw on them about using that awful cheap acrylic yarn from the discount stores instead of good quality wool, cotton, or other yarns.

It works, too. This year we had by far the most natural fiber entries of the four years I've judged now. More entries overall, too.
