Send for the exterminator now!

Woodstock Willie Woodstock Willie
Woodstock, Illinois has never forgotten the notoriety it received when the film Groundhog Day was shot there. The annual Groundhog Days festival includes a chili cookoff, promoted here by the event chairman and Woodstock Willie, the infamous groundhog.

Good grief, that's only nine miles away from here. And I thought I was the only furry in the county...

Hmmph. Probably some toady from the Chamber of Commerce. It's doubtful they are furry on the inside.

Perhaps you're right, though I thought most Americans now were unwilling to put on such costumes as a result of such negative publicity as CSI, MTV, and Vanity Fair.

He/she could have drawn the short straw. To some, mascots are just mascots.

Actually, I believe that the CSI and MTV 'incidents' were later than the filming of Groundhog Day. What's that about Vanity Fair, though?

They were later than the filming of the movie, sure. But this photo was taken just in the last month or so. It was part of an article promoting next year's festival. ;p

There was an "exposé" in the magazine Vanity Fair about the depravities of furries even before the television things. In fact, I believe it was the magazine article that triggered the MTV story.

I'm waiting for a 20-page article in National Geographic on furries. They're good with wildlife, so furries should be a good fit, no?

We'll probably get an over-the-top documentary on MS:NBC about furries first. They like alt-culture stuff almost as much as maximum security prisons (which they have a regular series of). Aren't you thinking you really need cable, Altivo? :)

Nope. I know I don't need cable, nor want it. I don't have any time to watch television. ;D

National Geographic on furries would be fun, though. So much fun that I'll add it to my list of things to actually write.

You've got to be kidding, I bet the rest of Willie's relatives ended up in that chilli

Ugh. Now you've convinced me that I never want to attend that event and actually sample anything. Actually, the ingredients for the competition are provided by a local meat market that does offer wild game like venison and such, and those have been used in the chili, or so I understand. But not groundhogs, I trust.

Once it's dumped in the Chilli you'd never know what it was.
