Weather continues unseasonably warm. I think we got near to 50° F. today. Cloudy, misty, gloomy, but cold and snowy is more what we should have.

Between chores and entertaining, spinning on the remains of the ramie that I was experimenting with a month or so ago. It's odd stuff. Now that the air is dry, it fluffs out and sticks to everything by static electrical charge. I was wearing a wool shirt (bad idea) and finally put an apron on over it.

Three friends from Elgin plus Gary's mom for an afternoon dinner of way too much food, as is traditional. Glad we got the dishwasher repaired.

Days may be getting longer, but it sure gets dark early and abruptly. Just coming up on 6 pm, it looks more like 10 pm. And feels like it too. I guess I had too much wine, maybe. If I try reading, I'll fall asleep, so back to the spinning I guess.

This reminds me, the Chewbacca in the kitchen needs
to be pulled out and given the once/twice/lazy eight
over.

I like the dark days, but it would be nice with
lots of snow too.

You have a Wookiee in your kitchen?

I tried to get a few things done today, but I was pretty groggy. I lay down and two hours later Lobo comes to ask if we were still going to go into town. I told him, yeah, give me a few minutes. That was 3 hours ago, I'd fallen back to sleep and he let me catch up on much needed sleep.

Tsk. That's something I can rarely do. Like [livejournal.com profile] cabcat says, I guess it's the equine work ethic or something. It's still dark outside this morning but I hear rain on the roof, so it didn't get any colder to speak of.

Be careful, or I'll run you through the spinning wheel by mistake.

We cats are very nervous about rocking chairs and spinning wheels.

Hmm. I won't tell you how many rocking chairs I have, then.

Don't really mind the lack of light that much, but I guess it shows how much distance I've grown to the outside world when going out at noon and wondering how silly it is to see that the highest the sun comes up is just a few degrees above the horizon...

But well, weather's perfectly silly this year. We barely got a white christmas, and now it's all melting away again... well, as long as it's not slippery, anything goes.

We had that huge dump of snow three weeks ago, but then it got warm again and we've had nothing since. It's raining fairly hard this morning, which wasn't even in the forecast last time I checked.

I don't mind the few dark days we get this time of year. Already the sun is rising noticeably earlier in the mornings, but the weather is definitely getting to be abnormal.
