Jan. 5th, 2007 09:53 pmThere, finished it today.
Seed catalogs are arriving, we've passed midwinter. Today's high temperature was well over 50° F. again. (But the forecast says it is going to drop off now into more seasonable stuff, with next week's high temperatures just around freezing and night time lows well below. Snow possible by midweek, and also predicted for after midnight tonight but it will melt when it hits the now thawed and warming ground.
It has been so warm that the maple sap has started to run, two months early. This doesn't bode well for maple syrup makers I'm afraid.
Guardedly good news on the work front. I sat in on a conference call this afternoon as the chief ringleaders of our library rebellion discussed costs with our preferred software vendor. The numbers sound workable, and if we have at least four libraries willing to commit to it right now, we can proceed. Three libraries were participating actively in the call, and we have two and perhaps three immediate additional prospects. A decision must be reached within a week or so due to contract renewal and escape clause deadlines. (I told them a thousand times not to wait this long, but you can only do so much to try to get people to make decisions.)
