[insert happy pony dance here]

I just got a letter (well, e-mail) of acceptance. A furry story I wrote last fall should appear in a print anthology sometime in the next year or so. They're even going to pay me for it (probably not a lot, but it's all symbolic, ya know.) I've been paid for writing before, sometimes quite nicely, but only once before have I sold actual fiction. I much prefer writing fiction, I guess I'll have to be more persistent about trying to sell it or get it otherwise published.

More details once I have them and know how much I'm allowed to say in advance. I'll just say that it's science fiction, suspense, and romance featuring a lion and a zebra. ;D

Oh, and the real storm has commenced. They said 8 pm, and freezing rain started to fall again at about 8:15, which is much better than the weather guys have been doing lately. I wonder if they'll be right about the three to six inches of snow by morning...

Awaiting details.
A different story from the NaNoWriMo project? Wow.

Yes, entirely different from the NaNoWriMo project. Nothing in common with it, in fact, other than being science fiction generally.

*watches the happy pony dance* It's kind of like the happy kitty dance with lots more clip clops.

Hooray for getting your story in print :)
A lion and a Zebra? Hmmmm

Eeew. Me neither. And that very fact plays a role in the psychological suspense of the story.

Psychological suspense? Oh a brain in a jar of spirit :D

Behave yourself or I'll have to swat you. And then you'll be complaining about how mean I am, even though I just fed you that lovely chicken stuff.

Gad you know me too well :)

Plus you still sound like a couple of other equines I know, they say the same things, must be a horsey thing. Nothing to do with me at all :3

No, wait, that's for babies, and you're supposed to give them out ... er...

Congratulations!

Thanks. :) Much of my writing has languished in the file drawer because I figured there was no market for it. I guess it's time to pull some out and give it a chance. This story was submitted on a whim, because I saw the announcement of a short deadline and happened to have an idea that fit.

I am trying to get a few short stories of my own published. Would you recommend approaching Sofawolf?

I have a very high opinion of Sofawolf, but I don't know what their slush pile or editorial process is like. I've not submitted to them yet. If what you have seems to fit their style, I'd say go for it.

Wow, very nice. I know a bit about how difficult it is for one to have fiction published, so the symbolism of being paid for it is not lost on me. I too await details.

Well, there are two pieces of advice commonly handed out, and they are certainly accurate: 1) Don't stop just because something gets rejected, even multiple times; 2) Keep writing new things while waiting to hear.

And while not so much an advice, it's a good motivation to bring out a little known fact: Harry Potter was rejected -thirteen times-.

Well done. Submit more, become extortionately rich then you can give up that job which gives you so much grief.

I guess this means you'll be officially "published"?

Thanks. Actually, I've been officially published for a long time, starting with articles that appeared in RFD magazine in the 1970s. My first paid publication came in the late 1980s.

However, this is my first FURRY publication, so it's still a major milestone for me.

Thanks. I guess I can say now that it's supposed to appear in FANG 4 from Bad Dog Books.
