Yes, indeed. It was once widely believed that hyenas changed gender either at will or on some seasonal schedule. This was very likely inspired by observing their cross-gendered behaviors.

Gotta agree with Delphine, the low, heartfelt moan when a mare orgasms is much easier to recognize than grinding teeth. Also re: hyenas, I thought that one was a myth, and the female 'penis' was actually proven to be a hyper-endowed clitoris? Or did I imagine that?

It's semantics. Developmentally, the clitoris and penis are the same structure and are indistinguishable in the early stages before sexual differentiation sets in. While it's of course technically a clitoris being a part of the female reproductive tract, the hyena clitoris at some point probably went developmentally haywire and developed more as a penis.

I've had the dubious opportunity to watch ducks doing it a lot. The males are gang rapists, but they abuse the hen serially rather than simultaneously. One friend of ours remarked after seeing it that human rapists ought to be reincarnated as female ducks and have to put up with that for a lifetime. I think she's right.

"Duck" is either the female or the generic for both genders. "Drake" is male or else a dragon. "Hen" is sometimes used for the female duck as well.
