What? Well, I guess it's still possible, but the ground hog didn't see his shadow Mr. Weatherman. It's been above freezing every day this week. Almost all the snow on the ground has turned to crunchy slush or mud. But there it is. Winter storm watch for the whole weekend, ice and freezing rain possible, and 3 to 5 inches of snow on tap for us. I guess we aren't quite ready to retire the sled for hauling water to the barns. Gah.

Whoa, that's cold. Good thing that sled is there. ^_^

Actually not so cold as what we've been having. When it snows here, the temperature is right around freezing. Real cold is associated with clear skies.

We're on the lookout this weekend for Tornadic weather... Hopefully it won't be as severe as they expect.

Must be a more widespread storm pattern than I thought.

They're guesstimating 6 inches here. And we just got rid of the old snow. :P

The nice thing about winter storms is that once the
barn chores are done you can sit by a fire with
your socks off, an internet connection and a book
nearby, having some tea.

Nothing beats that "I'm cozy and warm" feeling.

Works for me. Unfortunately, Gary is going to insist on driving to Chicago and staying all day at the height of the predicted storm because it's the Maritime Folk Fest, something he looks forward to all year. Possibly he will be convinced to stay there for the night at his mom's house, but he's likely to insist on driving back late Saturday instead. I'll be at home just having to do barn chores, which isn't so dangerous or difficult.

Sounds like Gary is a stubborn sort. c.c

Yes. He's about 7/8 Polish descent, so it makes sense. However, the dire predictions may have convinced him to skip it this year. While we sat reading after dinner we weren't paying attention to outdoors. He just looked and found that we're up to almost an inch of snow in just the last hour. This isn't even the main storm. It's a separate little system that's skipping along ahead of the main wave.

I resemble that myself. XD

Ugh. What a nasty forecast. Here in the east, it looks like I'll be on or near the dividing line between mostly snow and mostly mix. If it's mostly snow, there'll be six inches or so, with some sleet. Otherwise, it'll be a lot like what you're supposed to get.

But it's bright and sunny today, and very clear air. Would be a good day to not be stuck in a cubicle.

I just checked a few minutes ago and they seem to be favoring an ice storm now rather than any large amount of snow. If you look at the radar for Quad Cities, Iowa you can see the waves of stuff building out there.

It's just been raining here on and off, but the temp has been a nice 25-30 degrees Celcius ^.^
