It was clear last night, but we didn't see the eclipse. I think it was past its prime by the time the moon was visible here anyway. Clear means cold, so everything froze up. But the water underneath receded by a couple of inches overnight. It left hanging ice shelves and treacherous spots to walk where your weight would break through and either there would be a couple of inches of air beneath and then sodden ground, or there might be water that would squirt out around your foot or worse.

By mid-afternoon, the north end of our creek was thawed and flowing strongly, but in the midst of our land it still goes under ice and disappears. At the south border, where it turns west and flows into a culvert, it is completely iced over but the drop in water level has caused that ice to sag and crack. Still clear, so probably cold again tonight which may inspire a second level of ice shelves.

Finished weaving the shirt fabric, and bound up the edges and loose ends. Put it in the washer, and then in a hot dryer, where it is still tumbling, to full and tighten the material. Then it will need ironing and be ready for the next meeting of the workshop group on Tuesday.

Also completed a fourth skein of handspun yarn from one of our sheep. I've been going progressively finer with this as an exercise, and have covered a range from worsted knitting weight (840 yds/lb) to light sportweight (1440 yds/lb) and at this point I can't imagine how people spin lace weight or finer. At least, I don't think it could be done with this wool. The yarn is nice though, with lots of elasticity and nice loft, even at the finer weight.

OK, off to make dinner now...

And here I thought that weaving was going to take you longer. :)

Nope, I'm right on schedule. It shrank a bit more in the wash than I expected, but there's still enough to make the shirt.

The eclipse occured early, pratically at sunset for my area. By the time it was dark enough to see the moon clearly enough it was in the process of ending. I did however see bits of that though, but didn't get to see the red/orange effect that occurs.

That's about what I figured. Folks in Europe were exclaiming about it so I knew it would be well over by the time it got dark here.

Folks in my local astronomical society got a whole bunch of great shots of the eclipse, as it was ideally timed for us. They're busy posting them and discussing them in our astrophotography forum. We had a nice clear night for the best part of the eclipse, for a change. ;)

Thanks for the pointer. We'll have to settle for photos on this one.
