Or maybe it should be YAMB? (Yet Another Meyers-Briggs?)

From multiple folk:

Your Personality is Very Rare (INTP)

Your personality type is goofy, imaginative, relaxed, and brilliant.

Only about 4% of all people have your personality, including 2% of all women and 6% of all men
You are Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Perceiving.

The real inventory is rather more extensive than these little things, yet the ones I have taken produce remarkably similar results to the real test. What amuses me here is that all the furries on my friends list are coming up with "very rare" scores, all of which seem to be INTJ, INFP, or INTP. So where are all those "common" ESxx folks anyway? Not being furries, I guess.

Hmm, I took that too and I got a "rare" personality. Are there any "common" personalities in the test, or are we just all really unique because we're furries and geeks?

Hmm, I answered all the questions exactly opposite of how I'd really answer them, and got "somewhat rare," then I flipped every other question and got "very rare." I don't think there are any results that say "Wow, you're really common." :P

My real one:

Your Personality is Very Rare (INFP)

Your personality type is dreamy, romantic, elegant, and expressive.

Only about 5% of all people have your personality, including 6% of all women and 4% of all men
You are Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving.

Tell them they're special, and they're more likely to post the meme in their journal, and other people are more likely to want it to tell them they're special too :)

Yay!

Although, with 24 combinations, you'd kinda expect things to be around the 6% of the population in each group... I wonder what their criteria for 'rare' is!

Yes, I was just thinking about that. There are exactly 24 possible results. But I do seem to recall that they don't break down evenly through the population. Some of the types are indeed more common, and have incidences of nearly 10% or so. I seem to recall that INFJ is the rarest (and I've never known anyone who scored that way as far as I know.)

See discussion below. There are 16 possible "types" and yes, some are more common than others, though none are overwhelmingly common compared to the others. One or two are indeed rare, though, with INFJ (I seem to recall) being the scarcest.

So far, all the furries are IN--, which does make sense and is probably significant.

Well here's mine...

How Rare Is Your Personality? (http://www.blogthings.com/howrareisyourpersonalityquiz/)

Though I guess I"ve changed a bit since high school... then I was supposedly straddling the line between t and f. The person behind me was an INTJ though *grins*

INTP again. Recently on the internet it really does appear as if the entire world is populated by INFPs, INTJs and INTPs. In fact, a friend who scored as an INTP just wondered about this exact same thing not a month ago and all I could do was shrug and agree.

You've hit upon a crucial point here. "On the internet..." I suspect as well that the ES-- people don't sit around on instant messengers or Livejournal. They are the ones who are out at clubs and entertainment events or otherwise occupied playing sports or something.

Hmmm...IN- bias on the internet sounds plausible. Me, my Ex/introversion is actually very neutral, otherwise I'm also INTP...though I have received an ENTP result before. I wonder what the EN- ratios are.

Good question. I'd guess that EN-- personalities are more likely to straddle the line between introspective solitary activities and more social behaviors. I also speculate that strong E ratings are likely to be scarce among heavy internet users and furries.

I suspect introversion is common in the furry crowd, and probably among those of us spirituality oriented, intuition as well.

I am currently an INTJ, although I used to be an INFP back when I drank heavily.

That's an interesting observation. Of course, people do shift gradually from one type to another over time. I used to test pretty much as INTJ, but I've been travelling in the opposite direction from you so I come up is INTP or INFP now.

I think it fits. Twenty or more years ago, I'd have been trying to get tips from you on how to be so structured and organized. Now, though people often perceive me as organized, I'm not. I've been consciously trying to overcome those Virgo tendencies. ;D

I didn't gradually shift; it was a pretty rapid change. From what I have read and from my own experience, normal person's psych profile when drunk will flatten, so that they are not so differentiated, but an alcoholic person like me can literally toggle between different functions and produce a great change like that. It's no coincidence that the author of Dr. Jeckyl and Mister Hyde, Robert Louis Stevenson, was also an alcoholic, like me.

I once found the MB test to be scary. It was
really accurate. But I had a suspicion it
might be like how you /think/ your horroscope
is "accurate".

Nope, the Myers Briggs is actually double blind,
control experiment, accurate.

I used to get ENTP back as a kid,
now I get INTJ.

At least my "core" has stayed constant. XD

I agree, the real version of the test, administered under controlled conditions, measures something meaningful within a predictable degree of accuracy.

There are provisos, of course. One is that people do really change over time, as they learn and react and have experiences. The other is that these ten question internet quizzes are NOT the real test and therefor a lot sloppier.

Still, I usually come out pretty much the same as I did on the real test: Solid, unlikely to change bias on I and N, but somewhere near the waffle point on T and P.

There is a harmful effect of all these quizlets
on LJ and Myspace et.al.

They give the illusion that they are really
telling you anything.

You can't just rip out ten questions from
a MB test any more than you could from the
Rorsach or the Weschler or MMPI.

But people /think/ its true.

These tests, when administered in
circumstances controlled by a well
informed and objective clinician,
can give good baselines to /work/
from in therapy.

The online versions obviously omit
the thereputic part.

Otherwise, I'm fine being a Capricorn,
or a Horse, depending on what mat is
on the table in the resturaunt.
