All these years of keeping bunnies and not one of them has ever laid an easter egg for me. The ducks didn't even come through today. At least the weather was a bit nicer (meaning above freezing all day, though not particularly sunny.)

Finished the spinning guild newsletter for April. Made a large, if not terribly fancy, dinner (ham, asparagus, sweet potatoes, sauerkraut with apples and bacon, pineapple-cherry cake, the ubiquitous jell-o salad.) And now, if his connection has stayed alive while he was away, I'm going to go listen to [livejournal.com profile] corelog's weekly web broadcast...

Awww, darn it. No easter eggs for Tivo. That's too bad. I have plenty of chocolate easter eggs, you want some of mine? :)

Did you do the show for the broadcast this week? I missed it tonight so if you did I didn't get to hear it and I apologize. I know that if I had pre-recorded a show I sure wouldn't want to listen to it, ewww...

Thanks for the text message. Besides being eggless, I hope you had a wonderful Easter. *hugs and nuzzles*

Yes, it was the pre-recorded show I originally did for Christmas eve, that never got broadcast due to internet problems. Surprisingly, it worked for Easter, even in unexpected ways. I had used musical selections from Watership Down, for instance.

Rex has the MP3 file, obviously, so if you're curious you can probably download it from him.

Thanks for the Easter wishes. I'll let you keep the chocolate, what I really prefer are jelly beans. Especially the sour ones, like Starburst or Jolly Rancher. ;p

*your buns eardroop and try real hard but you
mistake their collective grunting for something
horrible*

Your dinner sounds tastylicious. Well except for
the 'kraut. I've never been able to enjoy saurkraut.

How to sauerkraut...

Heh. Too sour for you?

Here's what I did, you might even like it. Take a can or jar of "Bavarian style" kraut. The Bavarian style is sweetened with some sugar and has caraway seeds mixed in. Peel, core and slice two or three good apples and mix them in. A handful of raisins wouldn't go amiss either. Add some crispy-fried bacon crumbles, or just a dollop of butter. Put in a covered oven dish and bake at 300° or so for about an hour before serving. It's quite nice, really.

Plain sauerkraut usually needs to be drained of juice and rinsed once in cold water, by the way. Otherwise the acidity really does ruin it.

As for the buns, well, they're cute anyway. Or she is. I only have one left now.

*your bun sighs in relief, stops trying to
drop an egg and snuggles you*

You know, just plain sour saurkraut is the
only thing I ever got served growing up. When
I was old enough I banished it from my "things
that are edible" list. Your recipe will be tried
though. ^.^

Another good trick with sauerkraut: Again, I suggest the Bavarian style, but you can use the regular kind and stir a couple tablespoons of brown sugar into it. Take one of those little Cornish hens, stuff it with something tasty, like maybe sliced apples or oranges. Put it into a deep oven dish and bury it with the sauerkraut. Bake the whole mess until it's done, probably about 90 minutes or so at 400°.

Hmm. I loves me cornish hen dishes, they
can be amazingly tasty (and not really
hard to do).

What? The woman who sold me these rabbits promised that they would give the prettiest eggs you ever saw each spring... ;p
