Punctuated with silly things, like trying to figure out the obtuse macro language of tinyfugue.

Gotta go sleep.... ZZzzzzz....

Heh... TF is a great client, but their scripting language is awful. I've got a massive config file back from when I used it regularly with features like name autocompletion, line pushing, and deidle. I could toss you a copy if you like.

Sure, thanks, I'd be interested in working examples. The ones given in the "documentation" are not too helpful. I've generally avoided the macros for that reason. As you say, it's otherwise a pretty good client, and especially so for me since it's the same on multiple platforms. Even the Amiga version is almost identical to Linux and Windows. You can e-mail it to me @livejournal.com if you like.

Sent. And no, I'm still not always sure what the difference between $(...), %{...}, $[...] and $$[...] is without resorting to trial and error.

Yes, that's one of the irritations. Another is the "Don't use % if you can avoid it because it wastes time and CPU" but "Sometimes % is required, as in the following 25 sort of vague cases..."

Actually, the thing that was giving me fits was the matching algorithms for /hook. They are NOT as documented, it turns out.

Yeah, TF's not quite in the same class as sendmail, so I guess we can be thankful for small mercies...

In terms of contorted syntax and bad documentation, I'd say it's a tie. But if you get it wrong in tf, you are not so likely to be risking a collapse of your entire system as the hackers come thronging through the breach. ;p

Well, they're both Turing-complete... only difference is that sendmail isn't intentionally so.

As I said above, it has advantages. It works on everything, with the same user interface everywhere. Since I use so many different machines and operating systems, I do like that.
