As a German resident, let me express my dismay and displeasure about the "we all know Guinness is the best possible score on any "What Kind Of Beer Are You" test" line. :P

So the deal with this test is that each taker, based on his or her scores, is assigned a beer that fits their personality (Corona, Bud Select, and so on), and along with the personality description, there's a poster or an ad for that beer. As you can imagine, most of the images feature booty models, sports cars, or, maybe even more depressing, retro kitsch.


It's a testament to Bass Ale, and therefore to YOU, that when I went to look for ads for Bass, all I found was this. An ad from 1937. Bass is legit, and if your scores are true, so are you. I tip my glass to that.


Personality-wise, you have refined tastes (after all, Bass is kind of expensive), but you know how to savor what you get. Your personality isn't exactly bubbly, but you're well-liked by your close circle of friends. Your sense of humor is rather dark, but that's just another way to say sophisticated, right? Cheers.

Well, I don't suppose English ales are too common in Germany. :)

The quiz was probably written by an American, as the majority of these things are. I'm not a huge drinker of beers, I generally prefer wine. But my observation would be that in the US, German beers are still not too easy to find. At the moment, the trendy stuff is locally produced small batches, and there's somethign to be said for that. Before that trend, imports focused on Canada, Mexico, the British Isles, and the Netherlands. (Large commercial breweries in the US produce utter slop, as you most likely know, but they spend a fortune on advertising and continue to have a substantial following.)

Of the possible results for this quiz, I'd be inclined to agree that Guinness suits both my personality and my tastes best. Bass is not bad, either, though, and would be worth sampling if you get an opportunity. Both are characteristic products of the British Isles, and nothing like the few German products I've tried.

Gary really likes Guinness. I don't mind it about once or twice a year, though I prefer that it be slightly cooled, like red wine, to 65-68°F

I actually prefer the Mexican Dos Equis, and not just because the name resembles "equine". Really, though, I'd rather have wine, or for a real treat, British style cider.

Anything I can get. Cider is difficult to get here. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Americans consumed huge amounts of it, but since the temperance movement and prohibition, it has never come back.
