Stuff and fluff

Hot and humid all day, with increasing clouds and very high winds just before sunset. It's calm though, now that it's dark, and beyond a brief sprinkle, no sign of the predicted heavy rain and thunderstorms. We could actually use them.

Still no cicadas here. I did talk to someone who saw some over the weekend though, so there are a few about. Still. it's nothing like the prediction of the media, which seemed to suggest that we'd be knee deep in insects by now and driven mad by the noise. Bah, humbug. Like everything else, the media pundits go for the sensational rather than the facts.

Finished off skeins of cotton and wool/mohair blend, and started on some angora rabbit wool. I had several of those fluff bunnies some years back, but put all the wool combings away because I didn't feel advanced enough as a spinner to really do them justice. We'll see what happens now.

The cicadas are making an overture here. Not too noisey yet. Must have been more than the two I found the other day.

I still haven't seen any. I looked in our woodlot yesterday because the soil there has been undisturbed for many decades if the size of the trees is any indication. Nada, though. I guess we don't have those bugs.

We've had some moments of rain over the last couple of days as well. Nothing huge (the creek is still dry) but enough to wet things down at least and lower the pollen count.

You're headed into the middle of winter, no? Is that usually a rainy period for you?

Its supposed to be our driest time, Summer is our rainy season however if keeps up like this it'll be reverse o.O
