Busy day

Started with a staff breakfast at 8, then work till 12:30, after which I got to hurry home and go to the spinning study group meeting. We watched a video on cotton and silk which was quite interesting but at that time of day seemed to make most of us sleepy as well. I splurged and bought a couple of knitting books I couldn't resist:

Put Tess out in the pasture for a couple of hours while I cleaned and watered and all, brought everyone in and bedded them down, made dinner for myself and the dogs, and I'm wiped out. I must be getting old. I used to be able to do a lot more than that in a day.

This weekend is Gary's and my 25th anniversary together, but we have no big plans other than I'm taking him to dinner at a place he hasn't been before. We thought of inviting some friends over but nearly everyone seems to be out of town. I haven't thought of a wonderful gift for him either. Silver would be traditional I guess, but he won't wear jewelry and there aren't many practical things made of it.

At least the weather has cooled off, but it was pretty gloomy this afternoon. I hope the weekend is nicer.

Have a happy 25th. Sorry for being out of town. I must get these cars home. I'm sure Aero wants his money, and I want to get this behind me.

Thanks. Yes, we did discuss knitting there a couple of times. In fact, I ran into DH on IRC a week or so ago and he immediately thought of that too.

Thanks, tiger. :) I wouldn't say anything about it except that I think it important to show that it's possible. So many people insist that gay relationships are inherently unstable and fleeting... Some of our best friends have been together just as long.

That is wonderful! Congratulations on your 25th!!!!

Lots of practical things are made out of silver - picture frames immediately came to mind, trays, cutlery etc. Aren't bridles sometimes made with silver?

*lol* Michael is always shocked by people that won't wear jewelry. The first thing he bought when he was a teen with money he made himself was a piece of jewelry (a ring), much to the consternation of his parents.

We're at the point in life where "things" that clutter up our living space are to be chosen very carefully, since we have too many around as it is. That sort of rules out objects like picture frames or tableware that wouldn't get used. Now he might appreciate a solid silver socket wrench, but I don't think it would be practical. ;p He already has a saddle with nice silver ornamentation, but he hasn't used it in years and may never do so again. No silver hair, either, as he's lost most of his and certainly wouldn't wear a toupé. ;p

I wear limited amounts of jewelry, but gave up on rings years ago because my fingers swell in cold or hot weather.

25 years in gay years is like... 25 years!

Yes, sometimes it seems like 250 years, but more often it's a question of "Where did all that time go, anyway?"

Well, at least you have an official date to reckon from. We count ours from the date of a lunar eclipse that took place that year, that we observed from the rooftop of his apartment building in Chicago. We'd already known each other for a while at that point, though, and didn't actually move in together until a year later. We bought our first house two years after that.

Congratulations very very much on your 25th! :-)
And you've got another celestial event this time to celebrate with - not a lunar eclipse, but rather a very nice and interesting pairing:

Thanks for the tip-off. I hadn't noticed anything about that conjunction. It should be pretty spectacular even without hauling the telescope out and dusting it off. :D

Thank you. We had a nice weekend.

Now if you'd come to Midwest some time, I could trick you into talking about work. ;p
