At least, not if we measure by actions and experience, but the quiz results are unexpected. From [livejournal.com profile] bladehorse:

Your Score: Heavenly Perfection

You're 81% Poly =) 97% tolerant of the poly lifestyle =) (But... you're 10% just in it for the sex =))

Ooooooohhhh Aaaaaaaaahhhhhh

You're poly.

You're tolerant of poly lifestyle. (Good for you you like yourself!)

You're not just here for the sex.

And you won't lie to your mate.

I *Like* YOU.

Congratualtions on being a pretty good person =)

Oh - just so you don't go off wondering - the first question? the one about monogamous cultures? the answer is 16% of recorded cultures have been monogamous - 84% have been non monogamous! how about that? =)

I am rather poly, myself, and tolerant of it. But answering questions that one cannot answer correctly doesnt help surveys any.

That's always a problem with multiple choice quizzes of any sort.

Hee! We got very similar results: Poly 88, Tolerant 97, Just Sex 7.

I find that last difference amusing considering some of our previous conversations (I know it's a small difference, but it's still funny :)

Light and laughter,

Yes and I spent some time trying to figure out what questions they used to even derive that figure. The whole thing has a heterosexist bias too, though I was pleased that it at least gave a hat tip to the idea that bisexuality probably helps more than it hinders a poly relationship.

Unfortunately most of these tests, fun though they may be, have a decidedly heterosexist or, at best, "straight v. gay" duality that leaves little room for those of us who hop back and forth over the fence :)

I liked the bisexuality question, too. And it does seem to help ;)

Your Score: Fave Non Poly =)

You're 57% Poly =) 74% tolerant of the poly lifestyle =) (But... you're 18% just in it for the sex =))

You're not very poly yourself (and that's cool - there's nothing wrong with monogamy at all =)) and you're awfully tolerant of poly relationships which is a very cool thing =)

On top of that you scored low on the "just want to get laid by everyone" scale and high on the honesty scale - all in all - you're my favorite non poly person today =)

Nice to meet you!

Oh - just so you don't go off wondering - the first question? the one about monogamous cultures? the answer is 16% of recorded cultures have been monogamous - 84% have been non monogamous! how about that? =)

Have a good one =)

Why, it will do to keep me from nipping at you, of course. At least, about that particular issue...

Uh oh...that kind of leaves a wide range of other issues that I'll get bitten for.

Not crazy about the test

I see that I'm really behind on my blog reading here. It's that time of year for me- lots of field work right now. I tried this test and really didn't care for it. The author created a false dichotomy in many of his choices. Either you are actively poly (or at least really interested in giving it a try) or you are a sneering moralist. He left almost no middle ground and very little room for a nuanced approach to the issue. Plus, as you noted, it was pretty heterosexist. I got the decided impression on the questions about bisexuality that his position was bisexual girls = hot. Bisexual guys = do we really have to talk about this right now? I guess I'm disappointed because polyamory poses interesting questions and could have easily made for a more interesting quiz.

Most of these quizzes are written by twenty somethings and they often lack substance, as you note.

I was just thinking of you. Out assessing the ripeness of various berries and things, I noticed some large beetles apparently mating in the raspberry bushes. There were several pairs of them. About 3/8 in. long, quite fat, very shiny copper metallic wing covers, little white dots along either the edge of the actual wings where they protruded or else along the edge of the abdomen just below the wing cover. I remember earlier this spring you were asking about beetles...

A couple of weeks ago I also saw a couple of very bright metallic green ones, somewhat longer and narrower in the body (perhaps a half inch long.)

We have tiny blue butterflies (spring azures this late?) and a very few monarchs, but none of the big swallowtails yet.

The beetles that you are describing sound like Japanses beetles, which are having a huge population boom this year. THey are stripping all of the leaves off of my plum tree. I'm not sure what the other species that you are describing is. Six-spotted tiger beetle (the spots are nearly invisible) and dogbane beetle are two that come to mind. The blue could be a spring/summer azure (yes, they're still around) or an eastern tailed blue. Both are very common. If there's a tiny dot of orange on the hindwing (visible from both above and below) it's the eastern tailed. It's a bit early for the second generation of tiger swallowtails, however I expect to start seeing them very soon.

I knew that several of the little blue species were common, and of course I can't easily distinguish them though I'll check for those field marks next time I see one. These look darker blue than what I'm used to, but they may be freshly emerged.

I do think I know a Japanese beetle, and I don't think these were. If I can, I'll catch a couple for you to see when next we get together.
