Here's one of several little secrets I've been sitting on for a while. Alex at Bad Dog Books has just announced the availability of several new titles in time for Anthrocon. Among them is ROAR Volume 1, the first issue of their new non-erotic anthology series. In volume 1, now available through the Bad Dog Books website store and soon to be available through Furnation at AC, you will find the story "A Close Port of Call" by none other than myself.

The stories in this issue are furry science fiction, and though I haven't yet seen the others, from the lineup of authors I'm sure it's worth the price of admission. Oh, and by the way, though the writing is not explicitly erotic, it can be romantic just the same as you'll find if you click through to the online preview of the book.

There is more to be forthcoming from Bad Dog, some of it very exciting in my opinion, but I won't steal Alex's thunder by leaking it yet. You'll have to wait until he makes an official announcement.

*nibbles you gently*

The amount I'll be paid for this might be enough to buy dinner. Once.

I have a file cabinet full of stories here, literally, and none of them have ever seen print. I started writing with the intention of getting published back in 1988.

In nearly 20 years, this is only the second piece that has actually made it. You have to be very persistent and not give up. Very, very persistent.

Heh, thanks. Actually, I've been published before, but all of it was stuff written to someone else's specification. Almost all of it was non-fiction. This is the very first time I've written what *I* wanted to write and had an editor say "We want to publish that, and pay you something for it."

I'm pleased with this one. It's definitely furry, it's romantic, it's not pornographic, and I think the characters are appealing.

No porn? *grumble grumbles*

Hmmm I wonder what the pony has written *scratches his head*

Heck, I've written porn before. But it's formula stuff. I even sold a story, the only other fiction I've ever had published for pay.

I'd rather be subtle than blatant, and I'd rather leave some things to the reader's imagination. ;D

It turns out that my story was chosen for the "Preview this book" selection. So if you follow the link from the Bad Dog site to their online bookstore at lulu.com, you can actually read it (I think.)

More like tales of species interaction. Zebra meets lion and gets some surprises.
