I'd steal the rain from you if I could. It's going to be HOT here today :-/

This rain doesn't necessarily preclude hot. Instead you get hot and humid, with mosquitos. We've been into the 90s in the last week, with it raining at the same time. ;p

Well, I did say I wanted to steal the rain, not visit...I'm very generous. you can keep the mosquitos. ;-)

You don't. It makes mosquitos by the hordes. Takes three dry weeks to even begin to thin them out.

*grins* Somehow I don't think I'd need to worry much about mosquitoes when the temperature goes down to four degrees during and after the rain. I could always be wrong, though.

See what I said to [livejournal.com profile] herefox above. We've had pouring rain and temperatures holding in the high 80s to middle 90s this last week.

*chuckles* Well, at least you don't have wounds to check to make sure they aren't getting infected :P *winces as I peel back a bandage* Ah, much improved...

LOL *falls over* I'll let you be the judge.

Well, I'm got two places on my right foot that at one point looked like someone had turned my foot into ground hamburger... plus a few remaining blisters that are starting to go away... one has almost healed and the other is making good progress, but my left toe still causes me some minor pain- 'nother blister. I'm glad that's near an end. It was some very unpleasent times there for awhile...

I know what that's like from going hiking/camping with a heavy pack. It's a little different though when you get into that state because you chose to from having it forced on you by circumstance. I'm glad you're on the mend from that.

I scared the crap out of one guy where I'm staying when I was getting out of the shower; he was like, "Dude, what happened to your foot!" My response: No socks and a lot of wear.

I got some decent sized bandages so it shouldn't be a problem anymore... and yes, some socks too. My shoes have about had it, I'm sorry to say. Glad they were designed for walking or I'd have suffered twice as much... which seems hard to believe, but is probably true.

A suggestion on shoes, as soon as you have a little cash for them. While I'm no great fan of WalMart, the ones up here have some pretty decent shoes for just $20 or so a pair. They won't last as long as the more expensive ones, but they're designed for people who have to be on their feet a lot to work, like restaurant and hospital workers. The brand name is Tred-Safe. Comfortable and a good deal for the price. I'm hard on shoes and they last me about a year. Even if you do a lot of walking and footwork, they should last at least six months.

Ah, Wally World... where the poor go to shop. I've actually thought of getting some Tred Safes before but wondered if they were overhyped. You can't ask the ladies who bustle about there what construction boot lasts longest, can you? Yeah, I'm hard on shoes, too... especially right now. Thanks- when that hole in my right shoe starts getting bigger (it's in the toe, BTW), I'll go get a pair. It would help for work, too- although they supply us with some at the labor hall, they are, um, "used"... if you know what I mean...

Yeah, I don't mind that the poor go to shop at WalMart. I mind that they try so hard to keep their employees poor and submissive, though.

Just the same, when you need it, often it's the only game in town these days. I do recommend the Tred-Safe shoes with the understanding that they are comfortable and cheap, but don't last as long as the better brands. Good traction for wet floors, good support and cushioning. However, if you're working on a factory floor or in construction or something like that, a leather boot is probably better protection for your foot as long as it fits properly.

Used shoes: OK if they fit properly and you can wear clean socks. XD

I would imagine we are going to have some rainy days here this week as well once Hurricane Dean makes landfall. Thankfully we are some 500 miles or so north of the coast so all we will get will be a little rain.

You'd think we'd been through a hurricane here. Everything is flooded. Check the webcams at the Illinois Rairoad Museum which is just a couple of miles south of our place.

That's a lot of water. San Antonio and Houston had quite a bit of flooding last week, I think it was last week, from Erin. Oklahoma got hit pretty hard from the remnants of Erin over the weekend, at that may also be impacting your weather to some degree.

Raining over here in jolly olde England too, fortunately not too many bugs though. Have you started on that ark yet?

I was sorta hoping my horses would swim me out if I just hung onto their tails. I might be able to build a raft, if the trees aren't too waterlogged already, but I know I'm not up to anything as complex as an ark... let alone having to convert cubits to metric to American standard measurements. ;p

Hmm the weather is being a bit odd this year, but it has been odd since the beginning of the new century. Of course it is probably being odd due to the fact that folks are blaming global warming on it or the fact that meterologists these days just have more sophisticated ways of tracking it.

For myself and area down in South Carolina we just went though a 2 week long 100 degree temp days here (and still going though it), with hardly much rain for my part of the state. The coast is mainly getting soaked almost daily due to the moisture and though it is humid enough for storms to form during the day and go though the night most are rather severe and short lived to ever drop any percipitation in my area near the capital. It seems we got most of our precipitation in the winter or late spring. Though July was rather busy in terms of rainfall that I had to mow the lawn it seems every weekend (rather than every two), now the grass is basically dying even after we water it daily, all this in span of a week. It might even get worse for me given that is now the heart of hurricane season should any of them strike my state (like Hugo did in September of 1989). I do hope the rest of the year isn't as bad as the beginning of it.

Yes, I'd say things have been noticeably off since at least that long. We've had a long stretch of them blaming everything on "El Niño" which used to be a thing that happened once every seven to ten years and now seems to happen every year.
