Installing Windoze updates... downloading... installing... downloading... They don't exactly design that thing to be efficient. Especially on machines that have only dialup access. I feel like I've been at it all day, because, well, I have.

Beautiful weather. Why didn't any of it happen last week, when I could enjoy it?

Ah well, tomorrow is Friday and payday too. Then a long weekend, yay. Sleeeepy now...

I'm going to enjoy the rest of summer now that it's stopped raining...all two weeks of it :/ Phooey. (But the weather here *has* been absolutely splendid this week).

I hope your driveway didn't wash away.

The beautiful weather is spoiled for me by the abysmal state of US politics. No health care for us, they've destroyed that. No gay rights. None of Obama's "promises" are going to be delivered.

The number of death threats and wishes being uttered against him around here (mostly by older people who really should know better) is just staggering. They are living off social security and medicare, yet they'd rather have a president who wants to abolish both? I don't get it.

Yes, I certainly understand that. Obama's reluctance to touch DOMA is disappointing, and the health-care thing is turned into a fiasco. I was commenting to my co-worker the other day that Obama (whom I like and respect) has tried to be "nice" and get cooperation from the Republicans. The Republicans don't want health care reform because they're making tons of money, they don't like change, and they're only interested in destroying Obama's political careeer by making healthcare his "Waterloo" (as one GOP member put it).

I'm getting sick of this BS and I told my friend that I think Obama should stop being a pussy (pardon the term) and be president. Cooperation is great if you can get it, but if not, then you have to do it with some force. The Bush administration certainly never reached across the aisles to ask the Democrats what they think should be done about Iraq and Afghanistan. So IMHO, Obama needs to stop dicking around, stop being "Mr. Nice Guy" and start being a president. That means growing a pair.

But yes, many of the worst complaints are coming from people who are already on Medicare and Social Security, and yet they're screaming about entitlements and not wanting to pay for everyone else! WTF? Has the US turned into one giant Wal-Mart? Has the collective IQ of this country dipped into the 60's and 70's???? I sit and watch the interviews and listen to the people, and I can't believe the stupidity that's coming out of their mouths.

The driveway sustained some minor washout damage and I'll have to put down some more gravel or farmer's mix, but it's not that bad. During the last heavy storm I went out in my bathing suit and spent a couple of hours digging drainage channels so the torrents of rain would run into the ditch instead of down the low parts of the driveway.

Ahhh...Windows...it's always good fun locking horns with that thing. I am such a glutton for punishment I have made it my job.

Yes, you do seem to be rather more masochistic than I'd have expected.

At least you didn't download a service pack via dialup. Else you'd be tying up the phone line for a day or two.

Not this time, but I have had to do it. No other option where I live. We have no DSL, cable, or wireless here, nor line of sight on a satellite. Dial up is it.

SP3 was downloaded overnight when it came out.
