Another long day
Oct. 4th, 2007 09:04 pmSo Thursday is only a half day of work, to let me recover from working late on Wednesday. Except there are always so many things to do on Thursday afternoon that it doesn't usually work out that way.
This time it was gallery-sitting for the fiber show. I don't begrudge that, it's only once a year and I always sign up for two shifts since I belong to both organizations. This year it was a bit more lively than it usually is for the first day of the show, as Harriet and I got to demonstrate spinning and weaving, as well as answer questions for several visitors and encourage them to sign up for this year's door prize (a small rigid heddle loom.) The show really does look nice now that it's all up in the gallery.. Photos haven't yet been posted, but soon I hope.
Looking forward toward Sunday, that's the reception and tenth anniversary celebration. We are promised a "special" cake, but no hints given as to what it will look like. Just a warning to arrive before 1:30 when it will be cut up. Gary is providing live music for the gallery reception, as he has done for several years now, and I will be there doing spinning demonstrations though I haven't decided whether to use a wheel, a drop spindle, or the charkha this year. Gary also has his last farmers' market appearance of the year on Saturday morning.
Anyway, gallery duty lasted until 5 pm when the building closed, then rush home to take care of the animals, including mucking out stalls before feeding everyone since Gary is in Chicago on Thursday as usual. Got that done by 6:30, came in, fed dogs, fed myself while listening to Jim Dale reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (I'm about halfway through now I think.) Sent some photo links to a friend who requested them, checked up on my machines that are running BOINC, and ack, I'm ready for bed now.
