Something different this year. I was going to start the sequel to last year's Taking Flight, but since I'm still polishing that manuscript, I decided not to be working on two closely related texts at once, to avoid the temptation to spend excess time adjusting the earlier to fit new events in the latter. Consequently, something completely different is forthcoming: a suspense/mystery novel. Yes, it's still furry. As soon as it's well started, I'll begin posting the draft text to FurRag.

Meantime, gotta get at least some sleep.

Is this the one where the human's from five thousand
years from now, (Third Expansion), show up and debate
over wether or not to give the primative furries technology
since their starship is crippled and they'd really like to
have a society capable of generating stable transuranic
elements?

C'mon, its been done!

Huh? That sounds like a Star Trek episode. No, the sequel to Taking Flight picks up immediately after the ending of last year's book, and takes Jake and Chrysios into an exploration of the world as it stands in their time. That one's on hold.

This year's Nano is a totally different story with different characters, and not science fiction based in any way. We start off with an apparent abduction. (Click the Nano icon above for the preview. Unfortunately, as always, the Nano website is overloaded and slow. I'll get a longer excerpt up onto FurRag within a day or two.)

I enjoyed reading Flight as it progressed, so am looking forward to this one.

A brief preface that sets the scene is posted on the NaNo site. Click the typewriter icon above to find it. :)

OK, intrigued now. Between yours and [livejournal.com profile] milestogo13's, I'm going to have an enjoyable month.

And, since I'm not doing NaNo myself, much less hectic than my own March/April. :)

You definitely did last time, and without violence, which was pretty inspirational - seriously.

Actually, there was a little mild violence: that one brief fight between Jake and Dent. But it was very basic to the plot and I tried to keep from drawing it out too much.

Will it have a cat in it? :D

Yes, I think one of the members of the local constabulary will be a cat. The mayor is a fox, as you can see from the excerpt on the NaNo site, and I've already cast two wolves, another fox, a fat squirrel and a tall hare, not to mention the young skunk girl who provides maid service for some of them.
