DexCat has posted his professional quality photos from MFF, nearly 700 of them, and if you have enough bandwidth to run through the thumbnails, you're bound to find something you like. In some of the group photos taken after the parade, you can find me way at the back holding up the "Make Love, not 'Arrr" sign. All that's visible are the sign and my ears. There's a multicolored peace symbol on the sign, so it's identifiable even if you can't read the text.

It's fun, but just like a real horse, I have blind spots where I can't see. That makes for an interesting experience for sure.

Makes it tricky to tie your shoes, though. ;p I love black feathers on Clydesdales. They happen, even though they're disliked by the breeders. A few years ago I saw a mare for sale that I wanted really badly, but I only have so much room and it's filled up. She was a dark chestnut color with some white flecks on her flanks. Mane and tail dark, but the foot feathering was black with some white streaks. She was being offered for $800 if I recall correctly, because she didn't match the breed standard.

Next year, something different. Or at least, that's the plan.

I don't know much about breed standards, but that does seem good value. I remember the shires who used to pull the Tetley beer cart in Leeds (when I was a student). I think one of their stallions (I couldn't resist looking :D ) had black feathers if memory recalls. Sadly When Carlsburg brought Tetley out, the cart was sold, the horses retired to stud, and all beer in Leeds is now delivered by truck.

Tetley? Beer? Over here the name is associated with tea. I still buy Tetley British Blend, in fact.

Shires can have any color feathering to match their coat or mane. Clydesdales, at least in America, are preferred to have white. Why? Because it shows the mud more, I guess. ;p

Tetley is a brand of Bitter as well as a brand of tea. Leeds is home to the Tetley brewery. Sadly, their dray horses no longer clop the down Briggate, Boar Lane, Infirmary Street, or the other places they supplied. I am missing them already.

Time was when several American brewers still had show teams too. Now only the Budweiser Clydesdales are left. Too bad the beer is such intolerable swill.

The sad thing about this sort of thing is that they are cutting these fine old traditions not really because they can't afford them, but because some big fat executive's golden parachute would be a bit smaller if they kept going as it always had been.

swill...

Heh, all beer is intolerable swill- since it is technically poison, this is no big surprise- even people who drink it rarely finish their cans of beer.

Oh, now. Water is poison too if you drink too much of it. Salt is poison in excess. Researchers tell us that very moderate quantities of alcohol are beneficial. The trick is the moderation part. The problem is that so many people are unable to be moderate.

I don't often drink beer, but when I do I much prefer something with a lot more character and quality than any product of Anheuser-Busch. Small local brews are sometimes good, and so are imports from the British Isles in particular. And yes, I generally stop after just one.

Heh.. amusing. Yes, I've heard that about alcohol- personally, I can't stand the stuff. Bleh. I CAN drink it, but rare are the days I do- in fact, I can probably count the number of times I've had any kind of alcoholic beverage on my fingers. Still, you have a point... I'll ease of a bit before I get too heavy :P

First attempt. I'm still learning, and I hope to have a much more interesting one for next year, based on the character Argos in this year's NaNoWriMo project.
