The eclipse was pretty impressive here. We had a clear and frigid night, and it had started when I left work at 8 pm. Already a fair chunk was bitten out of the moon. At 9 pm I looked and the whole moon was an eerie red color with purplish shadows. By 10 pm it was starting to emerge from the shadow, with normal moonlight showing at one edge. I've seen total lunar eclipses before, but only partial solar ones. In any case, this was the best viewing I've ever experienced for an eclipse. I thought it was going to be much too cold, but the air was still and the temperature didn't drop as far down as had been predicted.
Tess is still giving me that look. The one that says "I know you could turn the thermostat up and are just too cheap to do it." Believe me, sweetheart, I would if I could. All the half-melted snow is frozen like iron now. I can walk on top of eight inches of snow without sinking in at all. In fact, that's the best place to walk, because the carefully shoveled out paths between buildings are now lined with half an inch of mirror ice. Slippery isn't an adequate word to describe it.

The moon? I so wanted to do photos but no, total cloud cover, a little
snow, so I took revenge on nature and went to the beach to take pics
of the ice dunes built by waves. I think that when an ice age starts
it gets a head start by the waves on the southern shores of the Great
Lakes as each winter it builds ten, then twenty and then eventually
hundreds of foot tall ice towers.
Tell Tess it'll be okay, you'll ride her south then.
