Got the spinning guild newsletter done. Busy preparing to lead a workshop on cotton preparation and spinning come Saturday. That means I need to clear off any remaining work on my charkha and portable wheel so they can be available for demonstrating, get together samples of raw and spun cotton as well as finished items, and pull out a couple of bags of carded cotton so people will have some material to play with.

Weather here is utterly weird. Last night the temperature was way above freezing. When I got up at 5 am, it was 47F outside. Everything was flooded with snowmelt, the creek was full to the banks or at least what looked like the banks but may have only been snow, and there was a steady runoff from the barn area. Some flooding had happened inside again, but not as bad as two weeks ago. By 6 am the temperature was dropping, and by 7 it was down to freezing. Everything was turning to glassy ice. I drove to work on wet roads, with drizzle that turned to rain and then to sleet. When I reached the library just before 9, it was snowing. The snow came down fast and furious for perhaps 20 minutes, then tapered off and stopped.

I checked the weather service web site, and saw a prediction for one to three inches of snow accumulation by afternoon. But it didn't snow any more at all. The sun came out, and the temperature dropped more, into the low 20s. Everything wet that didn't have a steady flow of water froze solid. For the rest of the week it's expected to stay below freezing, but no more snow is predicted. (No guarantees there, I suspect.)

Nowhere near enough cold to cause pipe trouble. We get down to -20F every year or two, so stuff is built to stand that. This year I think our lowest temperature was a -10 a couple of times.
