Workshop completed, head stuffed with new concepts and ideas. A much better appreciation of what double weave techniques can do, and, even more useful, at last an understanding of the usefulness of pick-up methods. Because I generally do texture weaves rather than color effects, I've never had to do much pick-up. However, a puffy quilted effect that lends itself to elaborate designs has grabbed my attention. Photos will follow in a few days, once I finish the sample warp.

And here's an utterly geekish meme, lifted from [livejournal.com profile] porsupah. If you have to ask, you don't wnat to know:

$history|awk '{a[$2]++} END{for(i in a){printf "%5d\t%s\n",a[i],i}}'|sort -rn|head
140 ssh
126 exit
27 su
22 ls
21 cd
12 sftp
12 man
11 less
10 ps
9 mount

OK, OK, it's a list of the ten most frequently used commands in my Linux shell history, with frequency counts.

Hmmm. It would appear that you don't use the command line much. ;p

That's from bash under Cygwin. I used it only on two occasions:
1. to develop a Pidgin plugin
2. to test a Vim script under Cygwin

I take it "hg" is a local alias or something. The rest look familiar enough. ;p

hg is the command prefix for the Mercurial version control system.

OK. Version control gives me a headache. I agree with it in principle and especially when many people work on something at the same time, but I also avoid it myself as if I had a phobia or something. XD

It's just that automated version control systems are so intensely complicated that I have an inherent distrust of them. Back when we used a "library" system to "check out" source code for a module and check it back in when revisions were complete, things were much simpler and easy to understand. Systems like cvs have so many options that I never know what the hell I'm doing or whether I'm doing it right. Given my background and experience, I suspect I'm not the only one...
