1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your userpics.
2. Make a post and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.

These are the ones [livejournal.com profile] aerofox picked for me:

This one is, of course, THE Altivo whose name I stole. From the Dreamworks animated film, The Road to El Dorado, in which he upstages both his human costars. Actually, the name is a Spanish name almost as typical for a stallion as "Rover" or "Fido" might be for a dog. It means "proud" or "elevated" (or "conceited" but we won't talk about that.) I still love the original character, though I don't usually RP his sort of personality. I use this icon particularly for "Oh Really?" kinds of comments or posts.

The next one is from a commissioned drawing by Kaijima Frostfang, and shows me as an inflatable toy. The original drawing is much larger and also features [livejournal.com profile] goldenstallion as an inflatable pegasus, since he and I were long time playmates on Tapestries. I use this one when I'm being pompous or preachy, in case you hadn't noticed. ;p

I made this one by doctoring up an actual photo of an angry Clydesdale. The original appeared on the cover of one of my horse training magazines, and had a lot of text plastered all over it, so I unplastered it with The GIMP (open source program similar to Photoshop.) The meaning is obvious, I hope: rage, great irritation, vengefulness. I don't use it a lot, but when I do, I mean it.

Gift art from [livejournal.com profile] miktar, who, sadly, has abandoned both his LJ and his FA accounts. He's a good artist, a good writer, and a good dragotaur whom I am proud to call a friend, at least in the electronic sense. I hope to meet him in person some day. I use this one when I'm feeling old and greymuzzly, but I'm actually quite fond of it. I think it captures me in many different senses.

This one and another one depict me as a plush toy, which is an aspect I've been known to RP at times. I'm not always a passive person, but I can be. As it happens, this photo was a replacement provided by [livejournal.com profile] songcoyote for a less attractive version I had been using. It's special to me because it was a gift, but it also represents mirth and gentle amusement. I guess the rockers look like smiles to me or something silly like that.

Should you have any curiosity as to my icons I would be pleased to illuminate. Several of mine are "acquired", but even they have stories.

I was bashfully pleased to see my name crop up :)

More later when I'm not so tired.

I love the default one you used on here, but the significance is clear enough. So here are five that are interesting:

I am happy in that four of the five are ones I assembled :)

My default, which I adore and use about 90%+ of the time, was made as a gift for me by [livejournal.com profile] emberleo.

The ball-room: I really enjoy the comic XKCD and the strip this .gif shows in particular. I don't use it often, but when I do it's usually for particularly "grown up" realizations or thoughts. It's a very happy image for me.

"Get Some" is the second icon I ever made. Cougar is the other animal with which I associate, so I basically hunted around until I found an image I liked. I use it to indicate things, people, or food about which I am particularly enthusiastic, or to make playful challenges.

I only very recently appropriated the Elmer Season icon as part of a response to two friends of mine who were using "Rabbit Season / Duck Season" icons back and forth in a discussion in their journal. I found the picture specifically to interject into their conversation, and it amused them a fair bit :) I haven't used it since but will do so to indicate coalition: that moment when you realize that you are both on the same side.

WOW: this is the first icon I ever made, in all its Paint glory :) I use it to express exactly what it says: wow!

The woeful cat was reassembled from an image in another online comic I enjoy, Two Lumps. I use it when making morose entries or when playfully mocking my own sadness (or - very carefully, another's). The original comic was a much bigger image with a wider thought-bubble; it was challenging to squeeze it all down to icon size and keep legibility. More action in Paint again - fun but not always pretty ;)

That's about it. I hope you enjoyed this trip through my thoughts about my icons, such as they are. Have a joyous week!

Light and laughter,
SongCoyote

Thanks. I like the play pen balls too. Amazing that it could be shrunken to such a tiny size and still be legible.
