Weaving, day 1
Aug. 31st, 2008 08:38 pmI did spend much of the day on weaving as planned, aside from helping out with some animal chores and meal stuff. Got a handful of snow peas from the garden along with the baby lettuce for salad tonight. We like the pea pods in salad so that's where they went. Beans are coming, I can see the first pods now in spite of the beetle damage. Still some beetles at it too, need to catch and drown more of them.
Tess was actually out long enough that she'd lost interest in eating by the time I went to get her. This doesn't happen often. Weather is beautiful and clear, though a bit warm and humid today. Usually we get aftereffects from Gulf Coast hurricanes, so I expect Gustav will be felt here in some form, though nowhere near as disastrous as it may be down there.
So I finished up the warp that was on the workshop loom, and cut off the work. Now I can rewarp tomorrow for the workshop that starts on Thursday morning. This is a short week, I'll only be at work on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The warp called for by the workshop instructor is a bit peculiar. It's a summer and winter threading, which is familiar enough, but I don't usually do wildly colored warps. This one calls for six colors (three light, three dark) plus black. I have no idea what she's going to do with it, since her instructions only give the threading and tie up. I played around and guessed at colors that might suit her requirements, and that's how it will be. Only three yards, but 302 threads, so it will take most of tomorrow to prepare and thread I'm sure.
