Weaving, day 6: Color me confused
Sep. 5th, 2008 09:57 pmAlso half-done. Sorta.
The sampler exercises in the color workshop include 15 different patterns to be woven. I am near the end of number 7 as of the end of today's class time. The seventh is the most confusing one so far, using three colors at a time and changing one of the three every eighth row. I'm sure there are even more complex things to come, and I know I won't be finished with all the exercises before time runs out at 3 pm tomorrow. That's not unusual for one of these workshops, though. At least they are all clearly drafted out, and I can read a standard pattern draft, so I'll be able to get to the end on my own.
Helped Gary clear away a pile of "spare" knitting machines he had placed against my big floor loom so that I can get a warp onto that this weekend (I hope.) Argos needs a wool shawl. It's an important object in the story, so I might as well weave him one. If I get it done fast enough (by the 24th) it can be in the weaving show too. I've got some nice Shetland yarn (if the moths haven't damaged it too badly) in soft gray and navy blue that should make a nice prayer shawl type garment easily enough.
One more day to the workshop. The classroom opens at 8:30 tomorrow, so I'll get there as early as possible to try to make headway.
Oh, I took in my "shaman" hat, the horse shaped one, to show the instructor. She liked it, as did several others in the class.

Date: 2008-09-06 11:48 am (UTC)No rain, but I can summon the flying monkeys. If you think equines are mean to cats, you should see what flying monkeys do...
*stands on one foot*
"Eppe, peppe, kakke!"
*you see a dark cloud approaching from the horizon, and must decide quickly what to do*
