Argos' Shawl in progress
Sep. 18th, 2008 05:37 pmJust to prove it is underway. Actually, I plan to have it done by a week from today. Almost three feet have been woven out of a total unfinished length of eight feet. The shawl will be washed by hand to soften and full the wool yarns, and will shrink by about 10% but become thicker. The subtle pattern just visible on the fabric here will become a raised latticework pattern if my design and computer model prove correct.
Even though Argos is a wolf with a heavy coat, he is elderly and prefers his comfort in wintry weather. He doesn't like fires and uses fire sparingly in his home and workshop, so he weaves by the light of day and wraps himself in warm woolens when it grows chilly.
