Got up early as usual, fed critters, and while Gary cleaned stalls I ran to the grocery to get a week's provisions. Immediately after we loaded up his car with instruments and stuff and headed out first to Crystal Lake so I could visit a hobby store to get stuff I need for the fursuit head, then had lunch, then back to Woodstock to the gallery in time for the arrival of the "Art Train" which is a new promotional thing for the arts. People get a train pass and box lunch, and are taken to crawl through art galleries and performance venues along the commuter line. It seems like a good idea, but needs more promotion, I think.

We geared up for it at the gallery, having been told that we might see as many as 250 visitors. Gary and two of his fellow performers set up in the lobby to play acoustic music, while we set up inside the gallery to demonstrate fiber techniques. We had a four-shaft loom going, as well as myself spinning cashmere and silk threads, and a Japanese braiding demonstration using colored cotton threads on an impressive wooden frame called a takudai. We kept it up until the gallery closed at 5 pm, though the turnout was a lot smaller than we had hoped. The visitors who did come in were very nice, and several were particularly taken with the music as well as the demonstrations.

Got home just before sunset, had to take care of the horses and sheep of course. I ran out to the garden to pick lettuce for a salad that we had along with leftovers from the fridge. Now we're both dead tired and bound for bed.

Dear Rider.

Well that sounds like fun. Lately I quit World of Warcraft because it was wasting too much of my time and I am not getting any younger either. But Bear is hooked so not much hope for him as that is about all he does when not at work.

But I will not nag him about it since he is as often laughing and having a good time downstairs on his computer as not.

I want to learn to play the guitar and have a cheap one from Wally World for four years collecting dust in the bedroom closet. Need someone to show me how since I really do not know. Chords is what Bear says. Dunno chords heck dunno to read music for that matter but do have a good ear.

Love and working on my Steedsuit this weekend.

Bear is right. You need to start out with basic chording. Helps if you can sing a bit. ;p

I can show you some.

Working on Argos' head today. I know how I want to do it, but am still puzzling over how to keep those teeth in. No losing his dentures on the floor! Got the footpaws figured out. They are going to be much more comfortable than hooves.

Yay! Another one who has been Cured! :)

Well, playing games ia an okay pasttime, as long as it doesn't get out of hand. I have seen and heard many friendships end because of it. I am glad yout two have a kind of agreement about it and he seems happy. But I think you need to remind him sometimes about your existence, too. ;)

Sounds like you had a nice day. And I hope you got enough sleep afterwards. :)

Yes, it was pretty good. Now today, except for animal care, I want to work on fursuitery.

Dear Rider.

Working on Steedsuit today. Bought a red square-hunter-pattern flannel jacket cheap at Wally World which should work ok for an old Sourdough Alaskan like myself and goes well with the cheap jeans I also bought at Wally World. Yea, gonna be a partial fursuit again but I do not mind so there.

Grin.

Oh, had to cut slits up the backs of both pants legs about ten inches so the simulated horsefeathers can flare out and fit down over my high-heel hoof-shoes and look ok. I figure clothing for a fur can be modified to fit since all you can buy is for human beans as it is.

The tail is kinda chopped looking but the more I brush and comb it out the less bad-haircutted it appears so will work. Gonna just hot glue it to the jeans since they are only for this and any future partial anyway. The jacket will either hang down over the top of the tail or be tucked in (to show off my Alaska Railroad belt buckle I have had for many years). Figure I can take my Alaska State flag along as well and, of course, Trapper will be my carry companion. Planning on just wearing some yellow work gloves rather than messing with making hoofhands OR I can wear the hoofhand ones I wore last year at MFF.

Gonna bleach out the dark nostrils since I do not like how they appear. Is easy to just take an old toothbrush and dip it in diluted bleach and remove most of the wetness on a paper towel and just kindasorta flick my fingertip over the bristles resulting in a very mistylight spray onto the head places I want to remove the airbrushed shoe dye and presto, it vanishes like magic. The forehead still presses too hard on my own forehead so gonna add more foam padding there and gee, the suit is nearly finished. Too bad I can't afford a cheap dog sled (start at around four hundred for a small one in kit form) because I just KNOW there will be lots of huskys and malamutes there this year, who would all probably love posing as a dogsled team. (I used to help a friend with his team at the Fur Rhondezvous((sp)) in Anchorage for years. Fun if not a bit crazy.

If someone doesn't show up with a dogsled, I'll be very surprised.

Sounds like you're in good shape. I still have a LOT to do. Life keeps interrupting me. Y'know, horses to feed, dogs wanting attention, dumb things like going to work...
