Wet Thursday
Oct. 23rd, 2008 08:45 pmLooked increasingly threatening all day, wasn't supposed to rain until after midnight so of course it started right before sunset. I guess at least I can be glad it isn't freezing.
The HVAC guy showed up at the library this morning and found that an automated valve had failed, stuck in the wide open position. That explains why the heat was on 100% in one zone of the library for 24 hours, causing the air conditioning to come on in all zones of the building to try to cool things off. The result was a 77-80F temperature in the malfunctioning area and utter frigidity everywhere else.
LJ has instituted a community,
lj_nanowrimo, for the NaNoWriMo participants. If you join and give them your NaNo user name or number, then they'll make a donation to the NaNo Children's writing project in your behalf provided you actually complete the 50,000 word minimum in November. They're also offering a random drawing for some other stuff, like prepaid LJ accounts for a year.
There's also a social community on Ning called NaBloPoMo, which stands for "National Blog Posting Month." Sign up there and then make a blog post each day for 30 days (you can use LJ for your posts, or name another blogging site) and they'll enter you in a prize drawing.
Argos is on hold for the evening because I'm having serious trouble staying awake. I'm about to apply his lips and ears and then start the fur on his face. Wouldn't do to put his lips on upside down, now, would it?
