Here he is, essentially complete. Only minor adjustments remain, and I made the deadline too. I already hear rumblings about having him make an appearance at the library, probably right before MFF as last year. Feet, hands, and tail are next, no time to waste. (And the NaNo starts on Saturday, ack!)

In photos I had Gary take of me wearing him, I think my own eyes are still too obvious. I may have to get some white makeup to put around them so they don't show. I don't want to restrict my vision any further than it already is.

Thanks. Minor tweaks still needed but he'll do.

He's a cutie indeed. I am tempted to try my hands on Fursuits, too some day. Hmm... Thought of adding eyebrows on him?

So, when ae you coming over in that 30/30 fursuit? ;)

He actually has subtle eyebrows now. I've thought of adding more but I don't want to make him too cartoonish. Look at the "Left 3/4 view" and you'll see the line of eyebrow.

I'd have to build the 30/30 suit first, and then hire a boat. I stopped flying on commercial airlines almost 30 years ago and never intend to do it again.

Ah, I see the eyebrows now. Must have been the flash. :P

Hmm... *sits down and waits at the door for 30/30 to come ring his doorbell*

Ooh, cute! ^^

Hmm, would a hole-poked white sleeping mask or "raccoon mask" help with the eye trouble? Makeup can be a bit of an inconvenience...

Yeah, I don't like makeup. If I were going to restrict the vision area by wearing a mask under the costume, though, I could just close in the "windows" more with bits of white fur instead. I think I prefer the latter solution, but will have to experiment. The biggest trouble with furry costumes is that you usually can't see your feet unless you lean way forward and look down. I'm used to that. The Tivo suit also mostly lacks binocular vision. Because the eyes are set as far apart as possible, most of the time only one eye can look forward. You lose depth perception and have to be very cautious. This head gives me full binocular vision and some limited peripheral vision but I may have to give up the peripheral. I covered the eye openings with a piece of white nylon from a stocking, but I stretched it very tightly. That makes it so transparent that it doesn't really hide my eyes, especially in the face of a camera flash. ;p

Video goggles and a camera pair would be fancy. Too bad the tech still costs way too much, and is heavy too. Maybe equipping the suit with a cane and a sensitive tail? ;-)

I don't trust tech stuff enough to rely on it that way, even if I could afford it. ;p The suits with the best vision arrangements use large lenses for eyes and you look right through them. Trouble is, they usually need ventilation fans to keep the lens from fogging up, especially outdoors in cool weather.

Hmm... Lenses you say? That sounds handy. I may need to look into it some day when I start on my own suit... :)

Yep. Examples that come to mind are Sinatra (a harlequin rabbit) and Loriana (cross fox vixen). I'm familiar with Loriana's construction methods and have seen her head insides. She uses a fiberglass shell that's rigid enough to fit servos and fans, and I'm pretty sure she has prescription lenses for the eyes. I know Sinatra's eyes look like that too, though I don't know whether they are actually prescription ground. You can find photos of both suits by checking photo archives from recent cons.

My own answer to the eyeglass problem (I'm near sighted and no, I'm not having lasix surgery for it) is just the simple old contact lens. Relatively inexpensive, and easy to deal with, and they don't fog up.

Dear Rider.

Looks pretty good. My only thought is the eyes look like little, round dots floating on top of the fur, rather than the almond shape of the eyelids opening of a wolf. Perhaps you can make those of of a thin material and add it over the eyes so they appear inside the eyelid openings rather than riding on top of the fur.

The angle of the almond shaped openings determines much about the expression of course.

You're right, and eyelids are still in the plans if I can make them work right.
