Well, it was down to 5°F/-15°C last night. Not supposed to be quite as cold tonight, with rising temps toward morning, but those will be accompanied by more snow. Winter has set in early this year it seems. Tess keeps making grumbly noises at me like "Well, when are you going to turn the thermostat back up? And where's my grass?" Thank goodness she still comes to get her nose rubbed, so I'm not a total outcast yet.

Gotta get busy with weaving again. I need to clear off a warp so I can set the portable loom up for a workshop I'm attending in January (the one that will be at the library, in fact, but I'll be on vacation so I hope not to be answering questions for those three days.)

Time to get the holiday shopping settled too. I'm not a grinch, and I like giving things to people, but there seems to be so little to feel good spirited about this year. Even getting rid of Bush and his cronies isn't enough to cheer me up, as I have little confidence in the replacements beyond the fact that they aren't the same party.

Enough of sitting in this cold room with the computer anyway. I think I'll go in by the woodstove instead and do something else.

Well you, Gary and Tess are all welcome to spend the winter here in Georgia. We're just barely hitting the freezing mark tonight. Assuming that Tess can tolerate a meager 1/2 acre back yard to graze in and three yapping dogs.

I think my other two horses would feel left out. ;p

Tess doesn't think much of yapping dogs. Big, quieter dogs are OK, but the small yappy ones inspire her to dance around and they risk becoming small, flat dogs.

But thanks for the thought anyway. In the summer, when the weather is nice, you should come up this way some time. ;D

Hey, you's be more than welcome here inmy apartment block with all the horses. It would be a bit cramped tho. :)

It is -2.2C outside now, and 23C inside. It is pretty comfortable here.

*fills up the hot water bottle and wraps you in a blanket with it*

It's [livejournal.com profile] cabcat's fault. Those Aussies and Kiwis have stolen all our sun and warmth just so they can have summer down there. Selfish, huh? ;p

Well you can have some of it back because it's getting too hot now! And it's been storming as well, so many houses here still have tarpaulins from the storm damage.

See, it's not nice to fool mother nature.

(Actually, that's a tag line to an old television commercial so probably doesn't have the laugh quality it should for you.)

That's not good news. Though I'm guessing it means you are getting some rain, and that part is probably good.

*wishes for the weather become more comfortable for Tess and the other horsies*

I am sure Tess still loves you lots, it is just the weather that gets them down sometimes. I think you should knit her a nice, warm sweater to keep her warm ;)

Computers and cold rooms... Does not compute for me. :P
One way to up the inside temperature is... Oveclocking! \o/

No overclocking, thanks. I like my equipment to last ten years. A cool room is good for the computers. What I need is a network connection at the other end of the house where the woodstove is, and a nice little laptop with linux so it can be an X terminal. I could do that of course, but in the present economic situation I'm trying NOT to spend money unnecessarily. My job is probably secure, but Gary's retirement funds took a huge hit so there's no telling what will be happening next.

It is okay. I was just thinking about heating more :P

A network connection is cheap to establish, but I agree, that laptop part may be out of the question in a situation like this. Sorry to hear about the retirement funds, I hope they will grow back eventually.

*HUGS*

One of those Asus Linux thingies would probably do, and they're pretty cheap. Thing is, I'm picky about keyboards and most laptops and notebooks computers have horrid ones. Wireless would solve the network issue I think, but I don't like wireless either and especially not with linux.

So I guess I can wear Argos' shawl while working at the computer at night. ;p

Hehe yeah my horses all blame me for bad weather too. Mine're busy hoof-shoveling trying to find some grass too, despite the hay and grain they're getting. I put blankets on the donkeys, they look very cute. Of course when don't they. :)

Days like this, Tess stays in. We put her in the round pen in the arena. She doesn't like to share space with the two boys, but she doesn't like being alone out in the back pasture either, or at least not if there's no grass. I put her out there occasionally anyway just to get her feet wet, but as soon as she finishes whatever hay I give her she'll stand at the fence and holler for me to come get her. ;p

Donkeys in blankets? I think we need photos of that.
