Gary's been baking cookies for two days. For at least 20 years we've made up boxes of cookies for relatives and close friends. I used to spend hours and hours baking, but he has taken over much of it in recent years. There are two signature recipes that are mine, though, and he hasn't really attempted them yet. One is a ginger molasses cookie that must be rolled out and cut with old-fashioned cookie cutters. I have a huge collection of cutters, from my mother and both my grandmothers. Most of them never get used any more, but at Christmas the bell, star, and angel see regular duty. The other is a shortbread recipe made with enough butter to clog your arteries for a whole year, terrible stuff but it tastes sooo good. I need to make at least the gingerbread tonight.

Weather is weighing down heavily on the midwest. It has been snowing hard since early this morning, drifting in the wind, making travel very hazardous. The temperature is rising out of the deep freeze levels we were at Sunday and Monday, but rising too much. The snow could turn into ice and freezing rain by morning, which is going to make travel disastrously dangerous. We need to go into Chicago tomorrow and come back out... and I haven't even wrapped the packages yet.

OK, enough complaining. Go get it done...

I assume you don't have a private jet handy, or I'd invite you to come share some. ;D

That's quite a haul. He probably has seven or eight pounds of them here at the moment. *gives you a box full*

Dear Rider.

ME WANT COOKIE!

Hey, how about I make you a pegasus (Imperator/Chrysios) cookie cutter? Be easy to do with, probably stainless steel. Will draw up a design.

Then you can eat me.

GRIN!
Imperator

*giggles and gets the pink and purple icing ready*

Could be tricky getting the shape to be recognizable and still sturdy enough to work, but I'm willing to test it out. I have an old cutter that makes ponies, and it's workable though their legs tend to brown too quickly or else break off. Several years ago I made a bunch of pony cookies for a party at the boarding stable: appaloosas with sesame seeds on their butts, paints made by mixing in blobs of chocolate flavored dough, fleabit roans with poppy seeds...

Yes, save those recipes. There are some my mother made that I've never succeeded in duplicating. She carried the recipes in her head, or made them by combining multiple recipes from the cookbook, and later in life she couldn't remember the secrets.

*noddles* Yeah, I'd hate for them to get lost. They all exist in writing, fortunately, but still, redundancy is always good - and I'd put them in my journal, too, so that others might try them.

looks sneeeefing and saying, "urrr?" with a headtilt*

Baking is something I haven't attempted, maybe I should
make those Macadamia cookies I like...hmmm....

*his family gains ten pounds per because of your post*

They'll only gain ten pounds if you make at least ten pounds of cookies. That's an awful lot. ;p
